• You set your own schedule: You set your availability in the app and apply for jobs that fit in with your schedule.
• There are two types of jobs: You can get on-demand jobs hosted by Jobble, which offer flexible scheduling for picking up shifts. There are also jobs listed by Jobble’s partners, which you’ll need to apply for directly with the hiring company (not on the Jobble platform).
• Jobs can start in a few days or a few weeks: Some jobs start just a couple of days after they’re posted. In other cases, you can land a job weeks before the start date.
• You get paid after each job: You don’t necessarily need to wait until the end of the month for your paycheck. You get paid within 7 days after you finish the final shift for each job you do.
• You can find long-term or short-term gigs: Jobs posted on Jobble can be single-day or multi-day gigs, or they can be recurring jobs that last weeks or even months. There’s even potential to move off the app with a full-time work contract.

After you download the app and complete your profile, you can start applying for jobs. If you’re successful, the hiring manager for a position will then send you a job offer, which you’ll need to accept or decline within 6 hours or else you’ll no longer be considered for the role.

The first time you accept a shift, Jobble will run a background check. Once that background check is cleared, you’re ready to go to work and get paid.

On the day you work a Jobble shift, you’ll need to turn on location tracking on your phone. At the work site, you’ll need to check in and check out on the app at the start and end of each shift.

Costs and fees

To sign up for Jobble, you need to first download the Jobble app onto your mobile device. You’ll then be prompted to share your location or add an address. Next, create an account using your email address or by linking your Google or Facebook account.

Eligibility requirements

Even though Jobble is designed for everyday workers, you need to meet a few eligibility requirements to start using the app to find jobs. You’ll only be able to use Jobble if you meet the following criteria:

The Jobble background check is conducted via a third party, and it includes a check of your criminal history and whether you’re registered on the Global Watchlist or National Sex Offender database. The background check can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few weeks.

The rating system favors employers

Employers are allowed to rate and review employees, but not the other way around. This is a source of frustration for some Jobblers, who feel that the app gives too much power to businesses and not enough to hard-working staff.

No protection when an employer changes their mind

Although Jobble charges employers a cancellation fee of 50% of the per-shift rate if they cancel a shift less than 3 days before the start time, there’s no indication on the Jobble website that they offer any money to workers for canceled shifts. This is a big drawback since you will get cancellation pay with some other apps for picking up shifts.

Technical errors can make it hard to clock in and out

You’ll find a few Jobble horror stories from workers who were removed from jobs or had to fight to get paid because they experienced difficulty clocking in or out for a shift through the app. This seems to be a technical issue with the app that’s experienced by both iOS and Android device users.

It’s unclear whether Jobble will eventually fix this issue. In any case, it’s a good idea to communicate with your supervisor right away if this happens to you.

It’s slim pickings in some locations

A lot of one-star and two-star reviews complain that the Jobble app only offers jobs from one or two companies. This is likely due to the lack of Jobble-partnered businesses in certain locations since some people say they only see nursing gigs, whereas others claim to only see DoorDash or Amazon gigs.

Needless to say, seeing only these options can be discouraging. That doesn’t necessarily mean Jobble’s not worth it, but you should take a look at what types of jobs are available in your area before you rely too much on Jobble for side hustles.

Nevertheless, Jobble has a few shortcomings that are worth considering, like the lack of an instant pay option and no cancellation pay in the event that an employer cancels at the last minute or sends you home because you’re not needed.

Here’s a quick comparison:

• Wonolo: Wonolo sends out payments faster (usually within 2 days), but you need to pay a small fee for occupational insurance if you don’t already have coverage.
• Instawork: With this app, you can get same-day pay, but it’s currently only available in a few locations nationwide.
• TaskRabbit: You need to pay a signup fee to use TaskRabbit, but you get to set your own rates, and you’re guaranteed 1 hour of pay if a client cancels on you within 24 hours of your start time.
