GrabPoints Review: Is It Legit and Worth Using?

No, for most people, using GrabPoints won’t be worth it. The site’s hourly rate is very low, and it isn’t exactly a joy to use.

When we tested the site, we wasted a lot of time on offers that didn’t work and surveys that led us on for quite some time before disqualifying us. As such, we can’t recommend GrabPoints when there are many similar sites out there with better hourly rates and more reliable tasks.

How much can you realistically earn?

We tested GrabPoints for almost 5 hours. Here’s what we earned.

• Hourly rate: $0.23*
• Average time to redeem rewards ($1): ~4½ hours*
• Time to get paid: Up to 4 business days

*Our calculations of the hourly rate and the average time to redeem rewards include 440 points’ worth of bonuses (equivalent to about $0.44) that we earned during the signup process.

GrabPoints says that it has members earning up to 20,000 points per day, equivalent to $20 per day. 1

We checked the leaderboard to see what GrabPoints’ top users were earning. It turned out that they were making over 40,000 points (equivalent to about $40) per day and over a million points ($1,000) per month. We were surprised to see this, considering how long it took us to earn $1, and while we can’t account for those numbers, our suspicion is that earnings like that are out of reach of the majority of users.

Here’s how our tester’s findings compare with GrabPoints’ claims:

On GrabPoints, you collect rewards in the form of points, which you can swap for prizes once your balance is large enough.

How much are points worth on GrabPoints?

You usually need 1,000 points to redeem $1 worth of rewards on GrabPoints. This was the exchange rate we found for the several redemption methods we checked.

The full picture might be slightly more complicated than that; on one help page, we saw screenshots showing different (less favorable) exchange rates for redemption via PayPal.

This suggests that GrabPoints’ exchange rates may sometimes vary. However, it’s also possible that it’s simply outdated; when we checked the “Rewards” tab, the exchange rates for PayPal were as we expected (i.e., 1,000 points for $1 of PayPal credit).

How much do you need to earn to get paid?

$1 was the smallest denomination we saw in the GrabPoints redemption options. This means you need at least 1,000 points to redeem your first rewards on GrabPoints.

How long does it take to get paid?

It took us about 4½ hours to accumulate enough points to redeem our rewards on GrabPoints. After we cashed out—in the form of a $1 prepaid card—we got our reward the same day.

You may be able to reach the minimum redemption threshold of $1 faster than we did if you steer clear of videos and offers, which we found to be a waste of time, and focus on surveys. It’s also possible that our experience with those less lucrative features was just unlucky; you might have more success with them.

Is there a limit to how much you can earn?

GrabPoints doesn’t place a hard limit on what you can earn through their site.

On their leaderboard, we saw users earning more than $1,000 per month. Although we’re a little skeptical about whether it’s actually possible to earn that much from the site, theoretically, your earnings are limited only by the time you can commit to surveys and other tasks.

Sign up

Signing up with GrabPoints is easy. You just have to enter your email address and create a password.

After you’ve done that, there are extra steps you can complete to earn a few points and get access to all of the surveys on the site. One is completing an “About Me” questionnaire worth 400 points (equivalent to $0.40). This is an essential step you need to complete to view survey opportunities on the GrabPoints site.

You also have to complete your profile by providing your date of birth, gender, address, and phone number. This should give you 20 points (equivalent to $0.02). Once you’ve done this, you should see a selection of surveys like the ones below.

Finally, you have to confirm your email to receive your rewards. Doing this will get you another 20 points (also equivalent to $0.02).

Our experience

It took us just a few seconds to sign up for GrabPoints by providing an email and password.

We also completed the “About Me” survey, which took us about 12 minutes. At the end of this survey, we earned 400 points, as promised.

Oddly, these 400 points disappeared from our balance after we provided our information. However, they reappeared when we signed in later; we’re not sure what that was about.

We also confirmed our email address, receiving 20 points for doing so, and provided the other information GrabPoints wanted for us to access all of its surveys. We earned another 20 points by doing this.

Take surveys

The main way to earn points on GrabPoints is by taking surveys.

As we’ve already mentioned, you first have to complete an “About Me” questionnaire, which asks about your household, job, income, and interests, along with other topics.

Once you’ve completed this and a few other required steps (verifying your email and providing additional information), you’ll be able to access all of the other surveys on GrabPoints.

When you go to the “Earn” tab on the site, you’ll normally see a selection of surveys like the ones in the screenshot below.

If you keep scrolling down, you should also find a “Survey Partners” section, where you can access even more surveys shared by third-party providers like the ones below.

As you can see, some of these surveys will require you to provide additional information to access them.

Our experience

When we used GrabPoints, we completed six surveys (provided by Cint) from the “Hot Surveys” section (under the “Earn” tab) and four surveys from other third-party providers.

Here’s what happened with the first group:

• We completed two of these surveys successfully and received the points promised.
• We got disqualified from four surveys (and received no rewards for our efforts).

Something we noticed while taking surveys was that, when they disqualified us, they often did so only after we had already answered quite a few questions. We wasted up to 11 minutes on some of the failed surveys.

In addition to those six surveys, we tried surveys from these third-party providers:

• CPX Surveys: We tried two of these. Both disqualified us after a few minutes. We got 6 points (equivalent to just over half a cent) for one of these failed surveys.
• Pollfish Surveys: Before we could access these, we had to spend about a minute answering questions to create a profile, and we got 10 points for doing this (equivalent to 1 cent). We then attempted two surveys, but they both disqualified us, and we got no rewards for our failed attempts.

Check out offers

Like many rewards sites, GrabPoints allows you to earn rewards by completing offers. These include opportunities to receive free samples, download games to your mobile device, and sign up for other services (some of which require you to spend money, others of which don’t involve any spending).

You can find offers in the “Earn” tab, where there are sections for “Featured Offers” and “Offer Walls.” The “Featured Offers” section shows an array of specific offers with estimated rewards up for grabs; “Offer Walls” shows third-party providers that share their offer selections via GrabPoints.

Our experience

Overall, we found that offers were an inefficient way of earning rewards on GrabPoints. In total, we spent about forty-five minutes trying to get points from 15 offers (not including offers that involved watching videos, which we’ll describe in more detail later), but we succeeded in getting points for only one.

Many times, our attempts to earn points via offers yielded only error messages. Other times, we thought we’d completed an offer, but then we received no rewards.

To give you an idea of the types of offers you can find on GrabPoints, here are a few we tried out (from the “Featured Offers” section under the “Earn” tab):

• Test Your Luck: This promised us 32 points (equivalent to about $0.03) if we registered (although it wasn’t clear what the company or service we’d be registering for was) and completed a survey. Unfortunately, the QR code we got was only for Android devices, and we were using an iOS device.
• Save With Coupons: This offer promised us 17 points (equivalent to about $0.02) to click on five links. However, when we clicked through, we found that a phone number was required, and we didn’t want to provide one, so we exited the offer.
• Lot Champion: This promised us 45 points (equivalent to almost $0.05) for getting an app and using it for a few minutes. However, when we tried to do this, we got an error message saying “Offer not available,” and we received no points.
• Blossom Plant Care Guide: This offered us 70 points (equivalent to about $0.07) to download and run an app. When we tried the offer, we got a message saying that it was invalid. This might have happened because we’d already used the app previously, which often disqualifies you from getting rewards on sites like this.

Watch videos

GrabPoints often offers to pay you for watching videos. To find these, check out the “Offer Walls” section for platforms like PixelPointTV and Loot.tv (now rebranded as CheddarTV).

Note that, on platforms that allow you to watch videos for rewards, you don’t usually get a 1:1 exchange rate when you move points from the platform to a rewards site. This means you can end up with fewer rewards than you might have been expecting.

Our experience

We went to “Offer Walls” and clicked on the PixelPointTV link. This took us to a site called GamersDen (which seems to be owned by or related to PixelPointTV). We already had an account on this platform, having previously tested other sites that let you watch videos for rewards.

In the past, we’ve often had problems getting rewards from video sites, which we’ve found tend to freeze up and stop working. This time around, it was no different. We spent about 15 minutes trying to get points from GamersDen, but with no success, so we eventually gave up on it.

We also tried out Loot.tv and found that, as mentioned, the site has been rebranded as CheddarTV. We spent about 20 minutes watching videos on the site and earned 10 points, which translated to 7.5 points on GrabPoints (although we haven’t yet transferred these points across).

Refer friends

You can find a referral link under the “Earn” tab. Your referral earnings will depend on the level you’ve achieved—Starter, Bronze, Silver, or Gold.

The screenshot below shows the requirements for each level and the referral bonuses available.

Our experience

We didn’t graduate beyond the Starter level on GrabPoints, and we didn’t refer any friends to use the app, so we didn’t get any rewards from this feature.

Try these tips to reap more rewards on GrabPoints.

Look for promo codes

Many survey and microtasking sites like GrabPoints share promo codes that you can use to get free rewards via social media, email, or push notifications.

GrabPoints’ social media accounts don’t appear to be updated very regularly, so you might not have much luck searching for rewards this way. However, it might be worth casting an eye over your email now and then, just in case they send any freebies to your inbox.

Our experience

As mentioned, we saw that GrabPoints’ Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook accounts weren’t up to date, so we didn’t spend long looking for promo codes on these. We checked our email a couple of times just in case we’d received surprise rewards there, but, again, we didn’t find anything.

Check out the leaderboard

Many microtasking and survey sites have leaderboards that rank their users according to who earns the most rewards. GrabPoints has a leaderboard, but we didn’t see any rewards on offer for high rankers.

However, you can view the activities of the leaderboard’s top rankers to steal their strategies. Go to the “Leaderboard” tab, and then “See Activity” next to the names of the top rankers to find out how they achieved their high scores.

Our experience

We didn’t earn enough on GrabPoints to rank very highly on the leaderboard.

We reviewed other users’ strategies on one occasion, and we found that someone had earned a lot by completing several very lucrative offers. We suspect that these offers had spending requirements (i.e., they involved paying for goods or services), so this earning strategy might not be viable for you—unless you can find offers involving purchases you’re already planning on making.

When you redeem your rewards from GrabPoints, you can choose from the following payment methods:

• Gift cards
• PayPal credit
• Charity donations
• Prepaid cards

Before you redeem, note that you’ll probably need to verify your phone number.

GrabPoints says that it usually sends payments within 1–3 business days (excluding holidays and weekends), but that it can take up to 4 business days to receive some rewards. 3

When we cashed out (in the form of a prepaid card), we received our payment later the same day.

PayPal

If you choose to cash out via PayPal, the lowest denomination you can redeem on GrabPoints is $1 for 1,000 points; the largest denomination is $100 for 100,000 points.

Prepaid cards

You can also redeem your rewards as a virtual prepaid Mastercard or Visa card. As mentioned, we used this redemption option. We cashed in our rewards for a $1 card, which cost us 1,000 points—the minimum redeemable amount.

There are many other denominations available with the virtual prepaid card option. The maximum is $200 for 200,000 points.

Gift cards

If you already know how you want to spend your GrabPoints rewards—or you want to gift them to someone—there are also gift cards available from various retailers, including:

• Amazon
• eBay
• Walmart
• Lyft
• DoorDash
• Uber Eats
• The Cheesecake Factory
• Domino’s
• Sephora
• H&M
• Hulu

Another redemption option is the Tango Card. Tango cards are like open-ended gift cards: you can use them to redeem your rewards immediately and then decide later what you want to spend the credit on.

We saw gift cards in various denominations going from $1 to $200. There were dozens of cards, and we didn’t investigate prices for all of them, but the ones we checked out were redeemable at the standard GrabPoints exchange rate of 1,000 points for $1.

Charity donations

You can also redeem your GrabPoints rewards in the form of a charity donation. We saw a couple of options: Serious Fun Children’s Network and Charity on Top (which is a charity gift card that allows you to donate to many charities with one card).

You can redeem as a charity donation if you have a minimum of 1,000 points (for a Serious Fun Children’s Network donation).
