Professor Sam Illingworth is a professor of creative pedagogies at Edinburgh Napier University in the United Kingdom. He’s been a podcaster since 2019, when he started the podcast “The Poetry of Science.”
This podcast uses the medium of poetry to provide insight into new scientific research. It has amassed over 17,000 followers on Podbean, with over 173,000 downloads.
Before becoming a podcaster, Professor Illingworth started a blog of the same name in 2014. The content he creates embodies his research on how poetry can be used to develop dialogues between scientists and non-scientists. Every Monday, he releases a new episode of his podcast, where he describes a new piece of scientific research and shares a poem he has written that was inspired by that research.
