About Me
Jacalyn Duffin is a hematologist and medical historian who held the Hannah Chair of the History of Medicine at Queen’s University for nearly two decades, from 1988 to 2017. The former president of both the American Association for the History of Medicine and the Canadian Society for the History of Medicine, she has published 11 books and has been featured in many publications over the course of her career. She holds numerous awards and honors, and is a Member of the Order of Canada and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences.
She received her MD from the University of Toronto in 1974 and her doctorate in the History & Philosophy of Science from the University of Paris in 1985.
