Opinion Outpost is a platform where you can take online surveys on many different subjects and get paid for them.
You can earn points that you can cash in to buy products from fashion, entertainment, and retail brands. You can also get PayPal credit or donate your earnings to charity. But are the rewards on Opinion Outpost really worth the effort?
Our professional tester went to find out.
Opinion Outpost doesn’t pay a particularly high rate, so you won’t earn big money by taking surveys on this site.
However, if you want a survey site that will yield rewards quickly, this one has a low minimum redemption threshold of 50 points, equivalent to $5 (whereas many similar sites require you to earn $10–$15 before you can withdraw anything).
We tested Opinion Outpost for about 3 hours. Here’s what we found:

$1.75 isn’t a spectacular hourly rate. However, it may still be worth it if you’re a big fan of survey sites and have maxed out the rewards you can earn on Opinion Outpost’s higher-paying competitors (which include Swagbucks and InboxDollars).
As mentioned, Opinion Outpost’s low redemption threshold means you can get your money more quickly from them than you can from their competition.
Here’s what Opinion Outpost says about the amount you can earn with them versus what our tester found out:

Opinion Outpost is a bit too optimistic about how much you can make, although their claims aren’t particularly egregious (at least compared to what we’ve seen from other, similar survey websites).

On Opinion Outpost, you collect points to earn cash rewards.
Opinion Outpost has a simple system for points redemption: 1 point is worth 10 cents, so you have to collect 10 points to earn $1.
You need to earn at least 50 points (worth $5) on Opinion Outpost before you can start redeeming rewards.
The time it will take to get your Opinion Outpost rewards depends on the redemption method you choose. Some gift cards take only a day to come through, whereas PayPal can take up to three days.
No, there’s no limit on how much you can earn from Opinion Outpost. We didn’t run out of surveys at any point while we were testing.
You can earn rewards on Opinion Outpost by completing the following tasks:
Opinion Outpost also offers “Quick Polls,” which are single multiple-choice questions. In contrast to most survey sites, which pay out small rewards for these micro-polls, Opinion Outpost doesn’t pay anything for them, so they’re not really worth doing.
To sign up for Opinion Outpost, you have to provide the following:
You then have to create a password and verify your email account.
After you finish that, you have to complete a “Welcome Survey” before you can access most of the site’s features (i.e., its other surveys). You’ll earn 5 points (equivalent to about $0.50) for doing the Welcome Survey.
We tested the Opinion Outpost signup process twice (with different testers). The first time, we completed the whole process (including the Welcome Survey) in 6–7 minutes with no problems, and we earned 5 points, as promised—equivalent to about $0.50.
The second time, the process didn’t go quite as smoothly. When we tried to register, we kept getting a message saying that our login was incorrect, so we tried the “change password” option but didn’t receive an email enabling us to change our password. When we tried signing up with a different email address, the same thing happened again.
In the end, we had to message customer service. They were relatively helpful (although we had to wait until Monday for them to respond to our message from Friday—they apparently don’t work on weekends). We were able to get our Opinion Outpost account up and running within a few days.
Opinion Outpost will prompt you to answer profile questions and surveys.
Once your account is active, you can click a link that says “Complete My Profile” on your dashboard. You’ll be prompted to answer more questions, which are designed to help Opinion Outpost select surveys that will be suitable for you.
In contrast to most of their competitors, Opinion Outpost won’t directly reward you with points for completing these, although the site says that “Keeping your profile at 100% gives you the best chance of enjoying as many rewards as possible.”
Unfortunately, there’s no way to confirm whether profile questions significantly improve your survey qualification rate, and answering the questions will take you quite a bit of time.
Completing surveys is the main way to earn points on Opinion Outpost. They offer surveys on a variety of subjects:
Some of the Opinion Outpost surveys are labeled “quick,” indicating that they can be completed in 10 minutes or less. Occasionally, there are also surveys labeled “high reward” that offer more points for completion.
We took 35 Opinion Outpost surveys (not counting the Welcome Survey or profile questions). Unfortunately, we were disqualified from quite a few. Of the surveys we took:
Opinion Outpost says that an average survey on their site pays around 10 points, but some surveys are worth as much as 250. Unfortunately, we didn’t see any surveys this lucrative; most of the ones we saw paid 3–10 points.

In addition to doing normal surveys, we spent 13 minutes answering questions to complete our profile, but we only managed to complete a small proportion of the questions available. As mentioned, we got no points for this.
Best survey experience:
Apart from the Welcome Survey, the best survey we took on Opinion Outpost gave us 12 points and took 19 minutes, which is equivalent to a rate of about $3.79 per hour—not terrible, but not great.
Worst survey experience:
The worst survey we took on Opinion Outpost was one that we spent 9 minutes on. We then got a message saying, “We closed the survey early because it doesn’t seem like you’re part of the target group it’s looking to research,” and we earned no points for our time. This is one of the worst survey experiences we’ve had on any apps we’ve tested.
Opinion Outpost has a “badge” program that gives you bonus points when you graduate through the several membership tiers available.
Here are the bonus rewards you can get for reaching the various thresholds associated with each badge:

We didn’t earn enough points to get a Silver badge on Opinion Outpost, so we didn’t get to see how well this feature works.
Bonus offers are special offers that boost your earning potential on Opinion Outpost. You can find them on the dashboard.
We checked the Opinion Outpost bonus offers a couple of times. The first time, we saw a “New Member Challenge,” which offered us a 10-point bonus for completing 3 surveys within 7 days of opening our account. Although we attempted many surveys during this 7-day period, we only successfully completed two, so we did not receive this bonus.
The second time we checked the bonus offers, there was a “Marathon Bonus,” which offered a 100-point bonus for finishing 10 surveys within 30 days of offer activation. We didn’t manage to get this bonus either.
We saw around 15 options for points redemption on Opinion Outpost, including PayPal, virtual gift cards, and a charity donation option.
The Opinion Outpost website says that you can redeem your points in the form of a virtual Visa card. However, we could not find this feature when we checked, so it may not always be available.
You can donate your Opinion Outpost rewards to charity. The charity on offer is called Give an Hour, which provides mental health support.
It’s nice to have the option to donate your points. However, many other, similar sites allow you to pick from 5–15 charities, so it’s a bit disappointing that Opinion Outpost only offers one.
Note that charity donations may take a long time to process (Give an Hour says it may take up to 30 days). We weren’t feeling quite altruistic (or patient) enough to test this feature.
Like most survey sites, Opinion Outpost allows you to cash your points out as PayPal credit. It’s harder to qualify for this option than it is to get a gift card, as you need at least 100 points (worth $10).
Opinion Outpost says that PayPal rewards will reach your account within 3 business days.
Most of the Opinion Outpost redemption options we saw were gift cards for various retailers, including:
For some of these cards (e.g., Target, Amazon, Nike), Opinion Outpost says they’ll be delivered to you within 24 hours. However, the processing time isn’t specified for all of the cards.
Some cards have lower minimum redemption thresholds than others. For example, we saw $5 Amazon and Walmart gift cards for 50 points. For Apple, Domino’s, Nike, and Target, we saw only $10 gift cards for 100 points.
After we passed the 50-point threshold, we attempted to redeem our rewards in the form of a $5 gift card. The first time we tried, we were unable to use the “Redeem now” button.
On our second attempt to redeem, we accessed the Opinion Outpost site with Firefox instead of Chrome, and we had more success this time. Opinion Outpost said that our order had been successfully submitted, and 50 points were deducted from our balance. We then received our gift card the same day.
