Job Description:
Job Summary:
Supervises and manages a team of coding specialists. Provides leadership in reviewing, accurately assigning, and abstracting diagnostic and procedural codes to outpatient radiology encounters using designated coding classification.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts quality analysis to ensure quality standards are met for professional and outpatient facility coding and abstracting to include reviews for accuracy, completion, and compliance with regulations; develops and supervises general standards and maintenance of quality performance through monitoring and feedback to staff.
- Serves as a resource to staff, providers, and other departments for professional and outpatient facility coding-related issues; supervises a section with responsibility for planning, coordinating, and controlling the work and procedures.
- Conduct selection interviews to evaluate qualifications of applicants/potential employees; counsel employees concerning disciplinary actions taken in response to violations of institutional policies or contractual provisions; conduct routine staff meetings to share essential information with staff and discuss current problems and future plans.
- Evaluate workloads, priorities, and activity schedules to determine staffing requirements; investigate procedural problems and develop alternative methods to solve those problems.
- Adjust work schedules or project priorities to meet emergencies or changing conditions.
- Analyzes data to determine patterns of denials/errors and provides analysis; recommends changes in departmental policies, procedures, and/or methods and workflows.
- Provide information to others (oral or written) to explain/clarify problems, issues, or requests.
