Overview:
Agile Defense is an award-winning national security company looking for a UX Designer to support our contract with United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
The UX Designer will support the DHS USCIS contract using agile methodology and play a key role in delivering digital products and services by participating in research activities, deriving insights, generating concepts and prototypes, and visually communicating ideas. In this role, the UX Designer will collaborate closely with developers and product managers to build and test final solutions. The ideal candidate for this position will work on cross-functional teams that include experts in design, product strategy, technical architecture, software engineering, and data science. The UX Designer will also contribute to a range of UX deliverables such as customer journey maps, user flows, sitemaps, wireframes, usability testing, and collaborative client workshops. The ideal candidate for this position will excel in a fast-paced government contractor environment and be adaptive to the changing needs of the organization.

Responsibilities/Duties:
· Establish and guide the overall UX design process across all Scrum teams
· Support Scrum teams in designing user-centered products through iterative collaboration
· Lead the development of wireframes, prototypes, and MVPs to visualize and validate design solutions
· Participate in discovery activities to define problems, build strategies, and plan user-centered solutions
· Conduct and support user research, interviews, usability testing, and synthesis of research findings
· Translate research insights into actionable product strategies and UX recommendations
· Create a wide range of UX deliverables such as journey maps, user flows, sitemaps, wireframes, and interactive prototypes
· Facilitate and participate in design workshops and collaborative sessions with stakeholders and team members
· Define and document user requirements and user stories that align with business goals and user needs
· Present design concepts and research findings to customers, project teams, and leadership for feedback and alignment
· Serve as a strategic consultant and advisor to improve user experience and business operations
· Act as point of contact (POC) for business owners, ensuring alignment with business objectives
· Collaborate with technical teams and provide support as needed throughout the development process
· Develop and deliver UX-related training and technical documentation when required
· Contribute to business development activities by supporting UX strategy, proposals, or stakeholder engagement
Required Qualifications:
· 3+ Years of Experience (YOE) working in UX design
· 3-5 YOEs leading the UI/UX design for a large enterprise-wide development for multiple applications
· Detail-oriented with an appreciation for the value of strong visual aesthetics across everything you create
· Must be able to translate business problems and requirements into compelling UI’s
· Exceptional skills with standard UX software
· Strong understanding of complex data systems and multi-step flow processes
· Understanding of visual perception and cognition in creating interaction rich applications, sites, and mobile experiences
· Strong portfolio of work emphasizing depth of experience with information, interaction, motion and visual design; its impact on human behavior
· Proven experience designing for complex, innovative, enterprise experiences
· Ability to explain designs with rationale rooted in user needs and business goals
· Understanding of methods and techniques to ensure the team is solving the right problem
· Enjoys the multi-disciplinary and collaborative nature of product design & development
· A blend of technical and communication skills, along with demonstrated experience across two or three UX disciplines such as User Research, Information Architecture, Interaction Design, or Product Design
Preferred Qualifications:
· USCIS or DHS experience
· Knowledge of Figma and whiteboarding programs
