Job Description:
This position is responsible for assessing the exposures/risks and recommending appropriate solutions for our largest and most complex credit unions/customers in a highly competitive environment. This position will also be accountable for collaborating with other staff/business areas as appropriate and serve as a risk assessment resource for others.
Job Responsibilities:
- Evaluate customer risks and exposures for assigned product line(s).
- Apply underwriting knowledge, judgment and appropriate underwriting philosophy to determine what information is needed.
- Review new policy applications, declaration pages, questionnaires and other support documents for completeness of information.
- Underwrite policies up to predetermined amount.
- Participate in field planning meetings; mid-year executive reviews; renewal presentations and outside risk management analyses.
- Participate in special projects/initiatives as needed.
- If a people leader, responsibility for directing team members, including coaching and motivating, including review and auditing of less senior underwriters.
- If a people leader, provide technical underwriting guidance to members of underwriting team, including approving accounts that are outside the authority of less senior underwriters.
- If a people leader, HR responsibilities to include performance reviews, monthly scorecard meetings with financial reviews and regular discussions regarding individual development plans. Report to manager on employees, progress, monthly.

Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- 6+ years of progressively responsible underwriting experience. Experience may include related areas such as claims, credit union or financial institution internal operations and financials.
- Expert level knowledge regarding credit union operations.
- Demonstrated strong organizational, analytical, planning, interpersonal and creative problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail.

- Demonstrated ability to communicate with internal/external customers.
- Demonstrated desire to continue professional growth/education.
- Willingness to travel.

Compensation may vary based on the job level, your geographic work location, position incentive plan and exemption status.
Base Salary Range:$102,200.00 - $153,300.00
