Job Description:
The University of Nevada, Reno Extension is seeking a motivated and community-focused instructor with strong interpersonal and communication skills to serve as a Temporary Part-Time Extension Instructor. This position supports the Storey County and Dayton communities and reports to the Extension County Coordinator for Carson City and Storey County.
As a key part of our Extension team, the Extension Instructor will deliver high-quality, research-based programming to youth, adults, and seniors throughout Storey County and Dayton. This temporary part-time position focuses on direct education delivery, community outreach, participant recruitment and retention, program data collection, and support of grant-funded initiatives. The successful candidate will work with diverse audiences, collaborate with community partners, maintain program records, and contribute to statewide Extension goals.
Responsibilities

Deliver direct education and programming in schools, community centers, and public sites.

Develop and implement strategies for participant recruitment and retention.

Foster strong relationships with community partners and stakeholders.

Collect and manage participant demographics, attendance records, and program evaluation data.

Support community events, Extension projects, and statewide programming efforts.

Source instructional materials and manage inventory per University and State guidelines.

Communicate programming needs, concerns, and successes with the supervisor and statewide teams.

Travel within Storey County and Dayton, and occasionally outside the county for trainings or events.
Required Qualifications

Candidate has graduated from high school or equivalent education

Candidate has experience in areas such as agriculture, horticulture, community development, health and nutrition, human and family development, and natural resources in urban and rural areas

*Candidate must have or obtain a valid Class "C" driver's license within 30 days of appointment

Experience using Microsoft Office, Excel, etc.
Schedule and Travel

49% FTE, or 19.6 hours per week.

Variable work schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Regular in-county travel; occasional overnight travel outside the county.
Compensation
Temporary Hourly
$20 - $22 per hour
