Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Taxonomist to design, develop, and maintain comprehensive taxonomic structures and the ongoing classification of content. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of information architecture, content organization, and metadata management, with a passion for creating intuitive and scalable knowledge frameworks. This role is critical in enhancing discoverability, improving user experience, and supporting efficient content management across our platforms and products.
Who You Are
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Library Science, Information Science, Information Management, or a related field.
- Experience: 1+ years of experience in taxonomy development, information architecture, knowledge management, or a similar role, preferably in market research.
- Technical Skills: Strong Computer Skills a must. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), taxonomy management software and similar tools a plus
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as research skills to drive content understanding.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaboration: Proven ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and consistency.
- Time Management: Demonstrated ability to efficiently organize and complete tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of specific industry-related ontologies or standards a plus.
What You’ll Do
- Classification & Tagging: Consistent, accurate, and timely categorization of high volume of newly-loaded content, aided by maintaining robust classification rules, guidelines, and vocabularies.
- Taxonomy Development: Design, create, and evolve hierarchical, faceted, and other taxonomic structures to organize content types according to business needs and user behavior.
- Auditing & Optimization: Regularly audit existing taxonomies for effectiveness, identify gaps, redundancies, and opportunities for refinement, and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate: Work with sales and marketing to enhance discoverability of categorized content.
- Technology Efficiencies: Constant review of new approaches, with eye to more efficient and more accurate categorization of content.
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all taxonomic structures, guidelines, and processes.
