Job Description:
We are seeking a passionate and analytical Sustainability Intern to support the development and execution of our sustainability initiatives. The Sustainability Intern will help develop a fully encompassing sustainability strategy from the ground up. The strategy will include setting up reporting for the company’s internal metrics, further developing our products’ sustainability impact and messaging to our customers, and identifying opportunities for the company to enhance our environmental and social performance.
The ideal candidate will have exceptional communication skills and a deep understanding of sustainability best practices. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of data, strategy, and purpose, helping to shape a more sustainable future for our organization and community.
Functions and Responsibilities
- Conduct research and analysis on sustainability-related topics such as carbon emissions, supply chain impacts, energy efficiency, and waste reduction.
- Set up an internal reporting process on the company’s carbon footprint, as well as our products’ carbon-saving impact
- Research regulatory trends and industry best practices in manufacturing and the global transportation industry, and develop a strategy for Aperia to not only comply with the regulations but also help our clients comply with the regulations they face.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop market-focused messaging on the sustainability benefits of our product.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations to communicate findings, recommendations, and progress to senior management.
Skills and Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Master's program (MBA, Sustainability, Environmental Science, Public Policy, ESG, etc.)
- Minimum of 4 years of experience working in environmental or sustainability consulting
- Knowledge of life cycle assessment (LCA) and carbon footprinting tools
- Exposure to ESG investing or corporate sustainability reporting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to stakeholders and partners on all levels.
- Strong research and data analysis skills
- Collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- High level of self-motivation, initiative, and a proactive mindset.
Hourly Range: $35 - $45
*Hourly salary only. Salary is dependent on multiple factors including, but not limited to, experience and location.
