Central to Urban’s mission is fostering a truly collaborative environment that ensures ongoing relevance to a changing world. The Urban Institute’s Health Policy Center seeks an intern to support research studies related to the health policy division's work.
What You’ll Do:

Conduct background research, literature review, and annotated bibliographies to compile evidence on emerging topics

Identify, interpret, and synthesize both quantitative (statistical and survey data) and qualitative information (literature scans, review of relevant federal/local policies)

Support senior staff in synthesizing research findings and articulating key evidence-based findings to identify and recommend best practices in program or policy interventions

Support planning and development of talking points, background memos, PowerPoint presentations, and other materials to be delivered by Urban senior staff for practitioners, policymakers, and other external audiences
Who You Are:
The successful candidate will:

Be a current graduate or undergraduate student in law, public policy, economics, or a related field with research and/or policy experience

Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills

Enjoy working in a team-oriented environment

Have experience with research methods, including conducting legal research, literature reviews, and quantitative analysis

Be able to apply emerging understanding of local and federal policies, programs, agencies, and ecosystems to assess the application, outcomes, and impacts of policy proposals and programmatic interventions

Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Candidates are required to provide documentation that they will receive internship academic credit from their college or university.

10-week internship; full-time preferred but strong candidates will be considered for part-time positions
