Key Responsibilities:
- Work with head strength & conditioning coach to implement strength and conditioning programs for middle and high school athletes.
- Manage behavior in classroom and implements rules and safety guidelines for all students in class.
- Assess students’ abilities, strengths, and weaknesses.
- Work with individual students to challenge them and improve their abilities.
- Communicate philosophies and program vision to student athletes and families.
- Work in cooperation with sports medicine or athletic training staff in the rehabilitation and strengthening of injured athletes.
- Hold to policies and procedures for the strength and conditioning program in accordance with school standards and guidelines.
- Track athlete attendance and progress in conjunction with the sport coaches according to head strength and conditioning coach.
- Manage and reinforce expectations for athlete conduct that mirror the school's expectations for curricula and extra-curricular activities, as stated in the school's Student Code of Conduct.
Requirements
- A testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and evidence of faith in action.
- Active involvement in the local church.
- Desire to invest in and disciple students in their relationship with the Lord.
- Evidence of a teachable heart, humility, and a gentle spirit.
- Excellent communication skills and relational skills in serving students and working with adults.
- 2+ years of coaching strength and conditioning at the high school, collegiate, or professional level preferred.
- Current standard first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillation (AED) certifications or ability to obtain.
- A strong working knowledge and teaching skills in analysis and techniques of strength training.
- One or more of the following certifications preferred or ability to obtain:
- CSCS from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)
- SCCC from the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa)
- USA Weightlifting (USAW) level 1 or Sports Performance Coach
Job Data:
- Hours: Part-Time; Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:00 AM – 8:00 AM
- Salary: $1,334 per semester
- Benefits: Not eligible for CVCS benefits
