Job Description:
This role has responsibility for the raw and packaging materials procurement for the ByHeart facilities.
This role reports into the VP of Supply Operations..
The Senior Procurement Manager – Direct Materials will be responsible for: securing continuous supply of raw and packaging materials, driving suppliers to improve quality and service, developing partnerships with key suppliers, identifying and executing raw and packaging strategies, supporting innovation development, co-negotiating long-term agreements, and being accountable for total cost of ownership.
This role will be networking with other functions such as Plant, Quality, R&D, Supply, Finance, and/or Marketing.
Reports To: VP, Supply Operations
Location: Remote or NY Office

Role Responsibilities:
Supply Security:
- Ensure availability and continuous supply of raw and packaging materials for the ByHeart’s operation and/or its external manufacturing facilities.
- Identify opportunities to develop existing and new suppliers, materials, or approaches to stabilize the supply base.
- Manage and support critical supply issues to prevent supply interruption.
Supplier and Stakeholder Management:
- Be accountable for Quality and Service from suppliers, and drive improvement.
- Drive suppliers on quality issue complaints, claims, and supply replacement.
- Ensure problems relating to quality, delivery, and service are promptly conveyed to the supplier and resolved in a timely manner. Elevate significant issues when needed.
- Implement Supplier Relationship Management Program, focus on driving key suppliers to improve quality, delivery, and service, and foster innovation.
- Lead supplier qualification projects with cross-functional team, and support innovation development.
- Be able to effectively communicate with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
Total Cost of Ownership:
- Be responsible for the total best value for raw and packaging materials, accountable for savings, and improve efficiency.
- Identify Procurement opportunities and develop strategies, negotiating long-term agreements and maintain compliance.
- Work closely with the Plant Supply organization and Finance in understanding needs, improving cost, service and quality of materials.
- Maintain a database of Purchasing.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree or higher in related field.
- 5+ years Sourcing/Purchasing experience preferred in infant nutritional products, pharmaceuticals, or food industries.
- Knowledge and experience with dairy components.
- Experience in collaborating with cross-functional team within organization. Team player mindset.
- Ability to work effectively with suppliers and external manufacturers.
- Strong self-starter, project management, strategic planning and change management skills.
- Good negotiation, influencing and communication skills.
- Ability in analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in standard software applications including MS Office, MS Outlook, SAP or Deacom.
The minimum annual salary for this position is $125,000 and the maximum is $140,000. The salary range for performing this role outside of New York City will differ. Additionally, you will be eligible for a discretionary performance based annual cash bonus and to participate in our company’s equity program, plus our robust medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other benefits.
