Job Description:
What You’ll do:
- Process semi-monthly and biweekly payroll across multiple states and entities.
- Support and execute payroll changes, including complex pay calculations, adjustments, deductions, compensation updates, employee status changes, address/work location changes, and wage garnishments.
- Execute time and attendance processing, ensuring seamless integration with payroll systems.
- Review payroll outputs for accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Respond to employee inquiries and collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues.
- Support payroll tax compliance, including responding to tax notices, maintaining unemployment tax rates, coordinating new state tax registrations (SUI/withholding), assisting with timely filings and remittances, and staying current on U.S. payroll regulations.
- Audit 401(k) deferrals each pay cycle and prepare control totals.
- Assist with payroll audits, reporting, employment verifications, and administrative tasks. Assist with special projects, process improvements, documentation, and updates to payroll procedures.
- Support year-end payroll activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and efficiency, support the implementation of best practices, and collaborate with the Payroll Manager on recommendations to senior management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You’ll bring to the Team:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field (preferred).
- 5 + years of hands-on-payroll experience, ideally in a high-growth or complex environment.
- Prior experience processing payroll across multiple entities and jurisdictions.
- Experience with end-to-end payroll and timekeeping processes, resolving related issues, and ensuring compliance with payroll regulations.
- Strong organizational, problem solving skills, and communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Ability to cultivate effective working relationships (both remotely and in-person) and communicate cross-functionally across all levels of management.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., functions, pivot tables, macros)
- Experience with payroll systems such as UKG is a plus.
