Job Description:
Senior FSQA Manager- Compliance & Regulatory
Primal Pet Foods, Inc. in Abilene, TX seeks Senior FSQA Manager- Compliance & Regulatory. Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) programs, ensuring all products meet regulatory requirements and company standards for safety and quality. Oversee compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including FDA, USDA, and AAFCO guidelines specific to raw pet food. Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of the company’s Food Safety Plan, including Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Preventive Controls, and Allergen Management. Develop and manage quality control processes, including raw material inspection, in-process checks, and finished product testing. Prepare for and manage external audits, including those from regulatory agencies, third-party certifiers, and customers. Manage and develop the FSQA team, providing guidance, training, and support. Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure they meet the company’s food safety and quality requirements. Lead initiatives to improve food safety and quality processes, leveraging technology and best practices. Develop and manage the company’s crisis management plan, including recall procedures, serving as the point of contact for regulatory agencies and customers in the event of a crisis.
Travel: Domestic and international travel may be required up to 30% of the time. Work may be performed remotely.
Job Requirements: Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology, Food Science , or related and 3 years of experience in the food manufacturing industry, including: (i) overseeing compliance with FDA, USDA, and AAFCO regulations; (ii) preparing and managing third-party audits including FDA and SQF audits; (iii) implementing, reviewing, and maintaining all food safety and quality practices and all requirements of the SQF Food Safety Management System; and (iv) Statistical process control and data analysis.
