Job Description:

About the Team

The College Readiness Assessments ("CRA") division is a team of mission-driven people who deliver the SAT Suite of Assessments (SAT, PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT10, and PSAT 8/9) to millions of students across the world each year to help open their paths to life after high school. The SAT Suite connects students to a wide range of post-high school opportunities, including scholarships, careers, and colleges and universities. In 2023, we retired the use of paper/pencil testing and are now a fully digital SAT Suite offering an assessment that is easier to give, easier to take, more secure, and more relevant.

The SAT Suite Program Information team ensures students and educators have an excellent experience with the SAT Suite of Assessments by developing engaging, clear, and accurate content to guide test administrations. By creating digital learning programs, web content, emails, and web-ready instructional manuals and guides, we help educators administer our assessments effectively. This ensures that over 6.5 million students and thousands of testing staff have the information they need to be successful before, during, and after test day.

About the Opportunity

As the Sr. Director, SAT Suite Instructional Design and Training, you apply your expertise in digital learning to envision and deliver comprehensive, modern, and engaging training programs that equip external audiences to effectively administer and support the SAT Suite of Assessments. You assess learner needs and lead a team in developing targeted, high-quality training content across a range of products, topics, and audiences—leveraging the latest instructional design methodologies and technologies. You will reimagine the current approach to streamline the learner experience, reducing the time external users take to complete training artifacts and the time internal builders take to create them. You will achieve this by reshaping the content strategy and artifacts and by strategically incorporating AI and other technologies into the development process. You work with other leaders across the organization to ensure that trainings meet the needs of our constituents including state departments of education, district and school leaders and educators, and work closely with Operations and Technology divisions to ensure that training content seamlessly blend with organization-wide Learning Management System (LMS) and infrastructure.

This role will report to the Executive Director, SAT Suite Program Information.

In this role, you will:

Establish Digital Learning Strategy (20%)

  • Continuously evaluate and integrate proven and emerging instructional design approaches and technologies to deliver best-in-class digital learning experiences for K–12 educators and professionals.

  • Leverage SAT Suite user data to uncover pain points, surface actionable insights, and identify strategic opportunities to enhance the effectiveness and impact of digital training experiences.

  • Use data to set overall strategy for providing engaging, interactive, targeted, and efficient digital learning to external testing staff who administer the SAT Suite and internal staff who support them.

  • Research and incorporate technological solutions, including AI, to increase speed and flexibility of training development process.

Manage Team in Executing Strategy (60%)

  • Manage team in the planning, development and execution of SAT Suite training programs.

  • Establish instructional design protocols and guidelines to be used by your team to create digital learning lessons, including scripts, graphic elements, interactive experiences, and assessments, and ensure compliance.

  • Establish and manage process for intake and prioritization requests for new training offerings or variations from College Board divisions and external users.

  • Evaluate training effectiveness and user feedback to continuously refine strategy, optimize design guidelines, and enhance overall learning outcomes.

Improve and Evolve Content (20%)

  • As a digital learning expert, collaborate with Executive Director and other internal stakeholders to contribute to a unified user learning journey for testing staff that includes coordinated and effective deployment of online training, informational web content, publications, emails and other resources. Adjust digital learning approach to blend seamlessly with overall learner journey.

  • Represent SAT Suite division and user needs in College Board cross-program initiatives related to testing staff and K-12 user experiences and knowledge management infrastructure and delivery.

  • Ensure team’s strategy and artifacts are compatible with organization’s LMS and broader knowledge management infrastructure. Represent our division in communicating needs and updates for LMS and internal processes.

About You

You have:

  • Expertise in digital learning with 5-10 years designing digital training programs and 5+ years managing a team to deliver same. Experience providing digital learning to K-12 educators is preferred but not required.

  • Outstanding knowledge of emerging trends and best practice in digital learning.
