Position Summary:
The Senior Director, Sales Training, will be responsible for building and executing Vera Therapeutics’ sales training strategy in preparation for upcoming product launches and commercial expansion.
This individual will lead the development of all training programs for the field salesforce—focusing on disease state education, product knowledge, competitive landscape, selling skills, and compliance.
As a key member of the Commercial Operations team, this person will partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Medical Affairs, HR and Compliance to ensure a fully prepared and high-performing nephrology sales team.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead a comprehensive sales training strategy aligned with brand objectives and field readiness goals.
- Design and deliver onboarding programs for new sales representatives focused on disease state knowledge, selling competencies, and company culture.
- Create ongoing training content and curricula (e.g., POA meetings, workshops, digital modules) for continuous field team development.
- Partner with Sales Leadership to identify performance gaps and develop targeted training interventions.
- Lead training efforts for new product launches, indication expansions, and competitive differentiation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Medical Affairs, Legal, and Compliance to ensure messaging accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Leverage digital platforms and adult learning principles to optimize training effectiveness.
- Develop metrics and assessments to evaluate training impact, field competencies, and sales effectiveness.
- Oversee and manage external training vendors and content providers as needed.
- Serve as a strategic advisor and coach to field leaders on training, messaging, and talent development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MEd, or relevant scientific discipline) preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical sales, training, or commercial operations; specialty care experience preferred.
- Prior experience leading training for specialty products in nephrology, immunology, or rare disease markets strongly preferred.
- Track record of designing and executing successful training initiatives, including product launches.
- Strong understanding of adult learning theory, sales methodologies (e.g., Challenger, SPIN), and training technology platforms.
- Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, evolving biotech environment.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, project management, and cross-functional leadership skills.
- Willingness to travel as needed (estimated 25–40%)
