Job Description:
Your new role
The Senior Director of Product Marketing will lead the strategy for positioning and promoting Digital Science’s full portfolio of products and solutions, with a strong emphasis on AI-first, data-driven marketing practices. This role is essential for creating targeted messaging and positioning that resonates with key audiences while providing the global sales team with tools, resources, and insights to effectively communicate solution value. By developing impactful sales enablement materials and programs, this person will ensure the sales team is fully equipped to engage prospects and drive revenue growth.
Collaborating closely with Segment Marketing, Sales, Product, and Customer organizations, the Senior Director of Product Marketing will align product marketing initiatives with each segment’s specific objectives, fostering a cohesive strategy that reflects product roadmaps and market needs. Leading a high-performing product marketing team, this person will set clear objectives, establish KPIs to measure success, help create consistent ways of working across all of product marketing, and leverage data-driven insights to optimize campaigns. This position will play a pivotal role in driving growth across key market segments, positioning Digital Science’s offerings as essential solutions, and supporting the company’s long-term goals in a competitive landscape.

What you’ll be doing
1. Strategy & Positioning
- Develop and execute a comprehensive product marketing strategy aligned with Digital Science’s go-to-market and growth objectives.
- Create clear, differentiated product positioning and messaging that communicates value to target audiences across market segments.
- Collaborate with Brand on naming, user experience, and cross-product messaging to ensure consistency and alignment with brand strategy.
- Align product marketing strategies with Total Addressable Market (TAM) analysis, Ideal Customer Profiles (ICP), buyer personas, and customer segmentation.
2. Go-to-Market & Lifecycle Marketing
- Oversee development and execution of go-to-market plans for product launches and key initiatives.
- Design and lead lifecycle marketing strategies that drive awareness, acquisition, retention, and customer advocacy.
- Collaborate with Product and Customer Success teams to support education and feature adoption campaigns.
- Own the development of customer success stories, use cases, and proof content to support adoption and credibility.
3. Enablement & Revenue Support
- Lead creation of sales enablement resources including battlecards, presentations, product collateral, and sales playbooks.
- Deliver training and tools to empower the sales team to articulate product value confidently and effectively.
- Drive win/loss analysis and competitive intelligence to inform messaging and sharpen positioning.
- Partner with Segment Marketing to align product messaging with integrated demand generation campaigns.
4. Performance & Market Insights
- Define and track KPIs to measure the effectiveness of product marketing initiatives.
- Leverage data and analytics to evaluate messaging resonance, enablement impact, and pipeline influence.
- Continuously refine strategies based on performance metrics, field feedback, and evolving customer needs.
- Lead competitive and market research programs to inform positioning and product roadmap decisions.
5. Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing product marketing team, driving operational excellence and shared ways of working.
- Foster strong collaboration with Segment Marketing, Product, Sales, and Customer teams to ensure strategic alignment.
- Cultivate a culture of innovation and curiosity, encouraging the use of AI tools and automation to enhance efficiency and scale.
- Promote a data-informed, customer-centric mindset across all product marketing activities.
What you’ll bring to the role
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
Experience: 15+ years of experience in product marketing, with 5+ years in a leadership position; experience in the scholarly research ecosystem is highly desirable.
Skills and Competencies:
- Demonstrated experience in building, managing, and developing high-performing teams.
- Success in collaborating with Product, Sales, Demand Generation, and Customer Success teams to align strategy and drive results.
- Interest in supporting and mentoring colleagues, especially those early in their careers or with limited experience in the segment.
- Experience in scientific/scholarly publishing, funding/non-profits, life sciences, academia/higher education, and B2C/individual researchers and small teams.
- Deep understanding of customer segmentation, buyer personas, and market needs, focused on delivering value through solution-based marketing.
- Strong ability to develop data-driven marketing strategies, analyze performance metrics, and refine approaches based on data insights.
- Inquisitive and creative marketing abilities with excellent persuasive writing skills.
- Hands-on experience with Salesforce, Pardot, Asana, data analysis tools, and account-based marketing (ABM) platforms, with practical experience using AI tools to streamline marketing workflows.
- Collaborative skills with the ability to thrive in a cross-functional team environment.
- Self-starter with a “roll up your sleeves” approach to problem-solving and project management.
