Job Description:
Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, we are seeking a Senior AI Engineer – LLM & Agentic Systems to lead the design, development, and deployment of cutting-edge AI solutions that leverage large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and agentic AI architectures. This is a hands-on leadership role for a builder and systems thinker who can push generative AI from experimentation into scalable, production-ready capabilities.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Architect robust, modular LLM pipelines including prompt engineering, embeddings, vector search, fine-tuning, and orchestration.
- Design and implement autonomous agents capable of reasoning, tool use (e.g., APIs, plugins), and long-horizon task planning.
- Own the full lifecycle of AI systems from prototyping through deployment, observability, and optimization.
- Evaluate and integrate emerging frameworks (e.g., LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, Semantic Kernel) to build next-gen agentic capabilities.
- Ensure performance, safety, and traceability across LLM applications in production environments.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with data science, platform engineering, and product teams to embed AI into core workflows.
- Stay ahead of research and ecosystem trends to drive technical innovation and strategic differentiation.
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Job Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering, including 2+ years focused on LLMs or NLP-based systems.
- Deep understanding of transformer models, prompt strategies, embeddings, fine-tuning, and RAG pipelines.
- Strong software and systems engineering skills, including experience in designing APIs, distributed systems, and production-grade services.
- Proficient in Python and leading AI frameworks such as Hugging Face, LangChain, OpenAI, PyTorch, and Ray.
- Experience with vector databases (FAISS, Pinecone, Weaviate) and agentic orchestration frameworks.
- Proven ability to ship LLM-based products at scale in enterprise or SaaS environments (on-prem or cloud).
- Familiar with secure deployment, prompt injection mitigation, and responsible AI principles.
- Occasional travel required for department meetings, all company events, in-person seminars/networking events, etc.
- Successful completion of a background screening process including, but not limited to, employment verifications, criminal search, OFAC, SS Verification, as well as credit screening, where applicable and in accordance with federal and local regulations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience building multi-agent or tool-using systems for automation or decision-making.
- Familiarity with reinforcement learning, planning algorithms, or memory-augmented agents.
- Prior contributions to open-source agentic AI frameworks or research papers in generative AI.
- Track record of mentoring junior engineers and guiding architectural decisions
- Food & Beverage and Supplements industry experience a plus, but not required.
