Novant Health is seeking a Safety Attendant to provide one-on-one observation of selected patients for the purpose of identifying behaviors which are potentially hazardous to self or others in accordance with facility policies and procedures; and report needs and concerns to licensed nurse.
ED Behavioral Health is a unit dedicated to providing compassionate care. With 18 beds and a typical nurse to patient ratio of 1:6, our unit prioritizes teamwork. You will have the opportunity to care for patients with diverse Behavioral Health specific needs within the facility such as behavior pattern symptoms/behaviors demonstrated by patients with an acute mental illness, substance use disorder, personality disorder, substance abuse or developmental disability. The Leadership Team consists of two Assistant Nurse Managers and a Nurse Manager.

Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.
- Experience: Previous hospital experience, preferred.
- Licensure/Certification:
- De-Escalation Techniques (within 90 days of employment), required.
- Management of Aggressive Behaviors (MOAB) Training (within 90 days after completion of De-Escalation Training), required.
- Additional Skills Required:
- Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing as applicable. Is knowledgeable regarding guidelines for infection control, body substance precautions, patient safety, and body mechanics. Maintains acceptable standards set by those guidelines.
- Ability to work with all age group patients or act as a companion.
- Basic computer skills for documentation.
