Job Description:
Security Guard (Part-Time)
Hours: 11:00 PM-6:00 AM, Monday-Sunday
7 days on, 14 days off
Typical starting pay, $14.92/hr.-$17.00/hr.
Security Guard at Ditch Witch:
This employee protects Company facilities from fire, theft, vandalism, and other threats during weekends, and holidays. The guard identifies visitors, deals with carriers, keeps a daily activity log, monitors surveillance equipment, and maintains contact with local police. He or she also does some minor maintenance work on equipment and performs other duties as assigned.
What Will You Do?

Regularly patrol Company buildings and grounds. This requires driving an electric cart, driving a Company vehicle, walking through the offices and climbing stairs.

Check doors, windows, and overhead doors, and secure them as necessary.

Meet and identify visitors, talk with them to determine their business, and respond appropriately.

Maintain contact with local police and communicate with them as needed.

Monitor equipment (heat treating furnaces, heaters, video monitors, etc.).

Watch for and respond appropriately to problems, including fires, leaks, intruders, equipment malfunctions, severe weather, and medical emergencies.

Record any significant events in the security log.

Perform limited maintenance duties on equipment, doors, etc. This may require using hand tools such as hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.
What Do You Need?

Demonstrate mature, sensible judgment and be able to work with only a limited amount of supervision.

Have an excellent record of attendance, safety, and responsibility.

Have a current vehicle operator's license.

Be available for work on very short notice (the guards must "fill in" for each other as needed to provide coverage).

Observe and record events accurately.
Work Environment:

Office environment part of the time.

Plant environment much of the time.

The shop environment includes: variable temperature, humidity, noise, and dirt.

Physical hazards such as powered vehicle, and pedestrian traffic, sharp objects, moving machinery, arc-welding and other electrical equipment, and high-voltage power supplies.

Hazardous materials such as fuels, oils, grease, paint, solvents, coolant, pressurized gases, various acids and caustics, cleaners, and metals.

Frequent outdoor work in all kinds of weather.
-
Extended periods of time working alone.
