About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to Outdoor Recreation (Indoor/Outdoor Pools) on Holloman AFB, NM.
The incumbent will work days and evenings, Monday through Friday.

Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to observe swimming area to ensure safety of patrons.
The primary duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons.
- Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area.
- Rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance if and when needed.
- Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions, ocean conditions of rough water or hazards, and recommends closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail.
- When working at pools, may operate water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets specified standards.
- Ensures that diving boards are inspected frequently for cracks or loose matting, and that necessary repairs are made.
- May perform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming area to include: cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, main pools, pool decks, beach areas, sunbathing areas, etc.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- This position requires satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks in accordance with Air Force and DoD policy, and a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent to meet the requirements to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) and network access.
- This position may require the incumbent to work days, nights, weekends, holidays and/or fixed and rotating schedules
- This position requires the incumbent to have the required lifeguard certifications or obtain within 30 days of appointment.
Qualifications
The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is US Citizens and legal US residents within a 100-mile radius of Holloman AFB, New Mexico. Recruitment limited only to the local commuting area of Holloman AFB.
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
- Must have an approved and current nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods and skills, as well as basic first aid training, and CPR (both child and adult) training, or obtain certification within 30 days of employment.
- Experience which provides practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules and procedures and skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment is desirable.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
