As a Donor Procurement Coordinator, you play an extremely valuable role in the facilitation of organ recovery and transplant. Your work will include taking organ offers, reviewing donors, contacting facilities, examining labs and identifying high-risk behaviors in potential donors. Once an offer is approved, you will ensure proper admission coordination. A caregiver in this position works remotely (OH based), with 12-hour shift requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Serve as contact for all potential offers for transplant from local, regional and national organ procurement organizations.
- Organize procurement team and dispatch team to donor site within required time frame and coordinates air or ground transportation of organs.
- Serve as resource for organ recovery and preservation and assist in training of organ preservation employees.
- Ensure compliance with OPTN/UNOS requirements.
- Orient new residents and fellows to renal procurement, renal allocation and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and present professional education programs as needed.
- Obtain, analyze and report pertinent data regarding potential donors and accepted organs for transplants.
- Abstract data and enter in transplant database.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Degree or diploma from an accredited school of Nursing, Respiratory Therapy or Paramedics
