Pottery Instructor
Pottery Instructor at Quirk Cultural Center (Part-Time)
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- provide quality instruction that leaves students with a solid foundation for understanding the ceramic process
- provide essential information on studio equipment
- adhere to class schedule
- reclaim and recycle clay
- load and unload kilns properly
- maintain general studio cleanliness and organization
- assist with other studio tasks as needed
TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS
- degree in Art or relative experience working in a pottery studio
- working knowledge of ceramics, hand building, throwing, glazing, and kiln operations
- working knowledge of tools, uses, and safety protocols for a working pottery studio
- attention to detail and ability to handle delicate work
- reliable, organized, and efficient with time management
- able to work independently
- awareness of studio cleanliness and safety practices
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
IDEAL CANDIDATE: passionate about teaching and inspiring creativity in others, ability to present clear instruction to students and adjust to accommodate learning styles, communicate effectively with students and staff, ability to keep students on track throughout class, manage student expectations and help identify realistic goals, enthusiastic about creating a supportive, community-focused learning environment.
PAY: $75.00 diem per class
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be a non-smoker and non-tobacco/nicotine user, including but not limited to cigarettes, cigars, pipes, snuff, patches, etc., and refrain from using all tobacco/nicotine products for the duration of employment with the City.
