Job Description:
The Payroll Tax Analyst plays a key role in performing a wide range of analytical, reporting, and taxation tasks to support the Payroll department. This position demands exceptional attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, a commitment to meeting deadlines, and a focus on providing outstanding service. The Payroll Tax Analyst assists with all daily payroll tax accounting activities, including, payroll tax reporting and compliance with local, state and federal regulations and balancing local, state, and federal tax reporting returns. Also, responds to questions and special request from employees and regulatory agencies. Research laws and regulations regarding payroll taxes and payroll withholding procedures and works closely with staff to ensure compliance.
Job Duties:
- Assist in the preparation, process, calculation, and reconciliation of bi-weekly, multi-state payroll for employees ensuring accurate and timely paychecks
- Ensure payroll data is reported correctly to federal, state, and local agencies, maintaining compliance with payroll laws and tax regulations
- Support departmental efforts by collaborating with staff on research and response to payroll inquiries, including taxes and tax notices,
- Prepare and file payroll tax returns, including federal, state, and local tax filings
- Tax setups for visa holders
- Reconcile payroll tax accounts and ensure discrepancies are resolved promptly
- Act as a liaison with government agencies regarding payroll tax matters
- Register for new state and local tax jurisdictions as well as closeout old jurisdictions as needed
- Compile payroll data and create payroll reports as needed
- Streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality teammate support
