Job Description:
This part-time Library Technician position is located at the Sewell Mill Library & Cultural Center in central/east Cobb County. Staff in this position works 18 hours per week including nights and weekends and 4 hours (1:00 – 5:00 pm) on scheduled Sundays. These positions will, among other duties, assist patrons with online resources and checking library materials in and out.
Circulation/information services including: checking books in and out; registering patrons for library cards; registering patrons for voter registration cards.
Take fines for overdue books.
Assist in keeping daily statistics.
Develops and maintains a working knowledge about the organization and care of library materials, library services and programs.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or GED required; supplemented by six or more months of work experience involving public interaction/customer service.
Preferred Qualifications
- Enjoys working with the public.
- Great computer skills recommended for assisting patrons with downloading ebooks on their personal devices.
Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
Sensory Requirements
Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors
Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
