ABOUT THE POSITION
As a part of Marin County’s Area Agency on Aging (AAA) staff, this part time (75 hours a month) 2-year fixed term position will primarily provide administrative support to the Marin County Commission on Aging’s (MCCOA) executive leadership team, working closely with the commission chair. This position will report to the AAA program manager and will also work with and assist the AAA director, the AAA senior program coordinators and the AAA administrative assistant as needed in performing work that supports the Commission. This position will primarily be onsite and occasionally in the community. There may be an opportunity for remote work in the future after a training period. The opportunity for remote work is at the discretion of the AAA program manager.
This position will support the operation of the MCCOA through aiding in the coordination, calendaring and communication about meetings and special events, such as the Senior Fair, the annual MCCOA forum and retreat, and other special community meetings including MCCOA meet and greets and monthly presentations. This position will also provide backup support to the MCCOA related work of the AAA team, as needed and identified by the AAA program manager.
Fixed Term:
This is a 2 year fixed-term position. This position is budgeted through July 2027. However, there may be opportunities for the hired individual during this time-period to move to a regular, ongoing position as other vacancies or promotional opportunities occur, or the position may be funded and convert to an ongoing position. Fixed-term employment ends when the position’s funding finishes, or the work is completed. Employees in these positions are exempt from the County’s policies regarding lay-off order and reduction-in-force rights.

The ideal candidate should be able to effectively multitask and maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail. Candidate must possess strong organizational and time management skills and be able to work independently and in a team. The ideal candidate will also have experience with Microsoft Office programs especially Word and Excel. Ideal candidate must be able to communicate effectively in both written and oral form, handle the occasional challenging individual, prioritize their workload, and have the flexibility to work with multiple people, teams, community members, community partners and the different MCCOA members and committees.
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Two years of experience performing clerical/office support duties that demonstrates proficiency with standard office applications and practices. Completion of a clerical training program or office administration coursework may be substituted for up to six months of the required experience. Some assignments require one year of experience in the area of assignment. Clerical/office support experience includes preparing, interpreting and maintaining a variety of records and/or documents; use of standard office applications and equipment; and greeting and assisting members of the public.
