POSITION SUMMARY:
The Mascot Team serves as Characters to all Aquarium visitors. Mascots are responsible for implementing daily requirements and upkeep relating to Mascot appearances and maintenance of the Mascot Costumes, including greeting guests, photo opportunities, performing in character, and appearing at off-site events.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Model patience, kindness, humility, respect, honesty, and commitment when interacting with guests and team members.
- Recognize the importance of the mascot role in shaping guest experiences; maintain proactive, friendly communication at all times.
- Greet, engage, and assist guests with a positive attitude and professional appearance.
- Provide exhibit information, program recommendations, and assistance; resolve guest concerns independently or escalate as needed.
- Maintain clean, functional, and guest-ready work areas; address or report issues promptly.
- Create safe, fun experiences by making mascot appearances throughout the Aquarium.
- Support guest flow during busy times, including school groups and high-traffic areas.
- Attend all training sessions and maintain knowledge of exhibits, programs, policies, and upcoming events.
- Collaborate with Guest Relations and other departments; share relevant guest experience information with peers and leadership.
- Monitor assigned areas to ensure guest and staff compliance with safety procedures.
- Contribute to a positive, energetic, and team-focused work environment.
- Complete pre- and post-appearance procedures; accurately document and report issues (“Clean, Monitor, Report”).
- Comply with all safety and security policies.
- Cross-train in Guest Relations showmanship, including OdySea Voyager and scanning stations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent and 1 year previous customer service or attraction experience required. Ticketing experience preferred.
- Theater experience, including performing arts, is a plus.
- Friendly, outgoing and proactive approach.
- Ability to learn and perform all Guest Services job functions.
- Ability to work as a member of a team.
- Ability to work a variety of shifts including weekends, evenings and holidays.
PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug testing and background investigation.
- No allergy to plants or animals which may interfere with ability to work.
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Able to spend most of the workday walking/standing in aquarium public spaces and offsite appearances.
- To ensure proper costume fit and character integrity, this role is best suited for individuals approximately 5'0"–5'2" or 5'7"–5'10" in height.
- Ability to push/pull up to 50 pounds.
