Job Description:
Under general nursing and medical direction, utilizing standardized procedures, the Nurse Practitioner functions within an organized system for the delivery of health care in association with other members of the multidisciplinary health care team and performs specialized nurse practitioner duties in clinical settings. Essential duties include but are not limited to all or some of the following:
- Provides routine preventative and continuity care to adult and/or pediatric patients; this may include complete history and physical examinations.
- Orders diagnostic tests, which may include laboratory tests, X-rays and other imaging, E.K.G.s, and other disease or condition specific diagnostic tests.
- Identifies and manages patients with unstable chronic diseases appropriate to clinical specialty.
- Provides urgent care to acutely ill patients.
- Acute care planning for patients in an inpatient setting.
- Assesses and diagnosis, develops treatment plans, and furnishes medications.
- Counsels and educates patients, and collaborates with healthcare team.
- Consults with physicians on the diagnosis and treatment of unstable and complex patient conditions.
- Documents medical records, and adheres to patient privacy.
- Participates in staff meetings and conferences regarding patient care, as well as quality improvement/control activities.
The 2328 Nurse Practitioner - Occupational Health Specialty performs other duties as assigned/required.

- Extensive experience in occupational settings across a broad range of roles, from medical staff to heavy equipment operators.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local occupational health and safety regulations
- Commitment to ongoing learning and development through continuing education units (CEUs) in occupational health topics, staying informed of industry advancements via journals, participation in industry events, and reading/review of new regulatory updates.
