Job Description:
Lippes Mathias is seeking an experienced Nurse Paralegal to support our legal team with complex medical-related litigation. This role is ideal for a licensed RN with a legal background and strong foundation in medical record review, legal document preparation, and case analysis. If you have a sharp eye for detail, strong communication skills, and a background in malpractice or healthcare law, we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities will include:
- Request, analyze and summarize medical records, reports and diagnostics
- Abstract medical records for review
- Provide insight on standard of care, causation and damages
- Prepare chronologies and narrative summaries of medical records
- Assist with discovery process, including drafting medical interrogatories and document requests
- Coordinate and prepare for medical expert depositions
- Assist attorney in preparation of medical evidence, documentation and exhibits, for hearings or trial
- Conduct medical research to support case and expert opinions
- Additional job duties as necessary
Our ideal Paralegal will have:
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with current, active license
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing AND Paralegal Certificate, required
- A minimum 2 years' experience as a Nurse Paralegal, preferably with experience in medical malpractice
- Proficient understanding of medical terminology
- General understanding of HIPPA compliance
- Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills
- Ability to proofread and edit documents
- Ensures accuracy with grammar and punctuation
- Experience with editing, revising and drafting of legal documents
- High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to use discretion and handle confidential information
Salary range depending on experience: $45-$65/hour as an independent contractor (1099).
