Job Description:
The MEP Coordinator is responsible for the entire life cycle of a project from inception through closure. Ensure the project is delivered safely in accordance with the company’s budgetary, schedule-driven, and quality parameters while exceeding the customer’s expectations.
Responsibilities
Project Coordination
• Coordination of all mechanical and plumbing across all stages of the project in accordance with all local, state, and federal codes and regulations.
• Ensure alignment between mechanical and plumbing engineering tasks and overall project timelines.
• Communication of all meetings with all project managers, engineers, and other discipline coordinators is not limited to just mechanical and plumbing.
Design and Planning
• Review and interpret mechanical and plumbing drawings and specifications.
• Provide input into mechanical and plumbing design to ensure constructability and maintainability.
• Assist in planning and scheduling mechanical and plumbing activities.
Procurement and Material Management
• Review mechanical and plumbing material specifications and requisitions to assure alignment with the design intent.
• Coordinate with procurement teams and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of mechanical equipment and materials. Communicate with all parties that equipment and materials are delivered to the agreed upon location(s) and meet quality standards.
• Monitor inventory levels and manage the logistics of mechanical components as required on a job-by-job basis.
Financials
• Review all financial set ups are in compliance with equipment, material, labor, other direct job cost, and subcontractors for VP of mechanical approval.
• Conduct monthly project cost reviews with your teams, capturing any deviations from the financial setup or schedule early while keeping all project team members and leadership informed to aid in beating project schedules and budgetary goals.
• Review and approve the project’s Accounts Receivables by developing the pay applications schedule of value to ensure timely and accurate billings and collection of our payments to maintain a positive cash position.
• Review and manage the project’s Accounts Payables with Project Managers by working with the Accounting and Legal Departments to ensure that subcontractors and vendors are paid in a timely fashion and all risks associated with payments are mitigated.
• Responsible for alignment with the project managers in obtaining and coordinating appropriate lien waivers, state notifications, tax documentation, and permits for the project.
• Responsible for ensuring the project’s budget and scope are always aligned through the change management process.
• Responsible for daily project requirements include but not limited to: attend jobsites meetings, schedule deliveries, perform project site documentation, review jobsite labor reports with supervision, tool/equipment rental requisition, coordinate job progress, material and consumables requisitions, preparation and tracking of request for information, assist supervision with permitting and inspections, approve vendor/sub invoices, status reports, monthly billings and collections.
• Build and maintain strong relations with internal team members, the customer, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Responsible with Project Manager to Monitor status of Risk Management items, including Notices to Proceed, contract agreement (including change orders), insurance policies, and bonds.
• Responsible with Project Manager for close-out documents including operations and maintenance manuals, equipment start-up documents, as-built requirements, warranty letters, and Owner-training items.
• Responsible with Project Manager for managing all warranty work falling within contractual obligations if applicable.
• Responsible with Project Manager to coordinate the start-up and commissioning processes with the project team members, subcontractors, the customer, and any other external party involved to ensure compliance in a timely manner for all aspects of the project related to mechanical and plumbing scope.
Supervision and Execution
• Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems (e.g., HVAC, piping, plumbing, etc.).
• Ensure work is carried out in compliance with safety, quality, and technical standards.
• Conduct site inspections and verify adherence to mechanical and plumbing plans.
Quality Assurance and Control
• Ensure all mechanical and plumbing work is performed according to project standards, codes, and specifications.
• Participate and or review all inspections, testing, and commissioning of mechanical and plumbing systems to assure compliance has been met.
• Coordinate with QA/QC teams to resolve non-conformities with the proper documentation to meet all standards.
Safety and Compliance
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.
• Conduct or support safety briefings and toolbox talks for mechanical and plumbing teams.
• Implement safe work practices and procedures for all mechanical and plumbing tasks.
• All preliminary procedures necessary for specific scope of task are to meet Enfra standards at a minimum.
Communication and Reporting
• Act as the main point of contact for mechanical and plumbing issues on site.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors for technical clarifications and issue resolution on a consistent basis.
Documentation and Handover
• Maintain proper documentation of mechanical and plumbing activities, drawings, and records.
• Ensure all mechanical systems are tested and documented in proper format before handover.
• Assist in the preparation of as-built drawings and operation & maintenance manuals.
