Job Description:
The Senior Digital Editor is accountable for leading Convene’s evolution into a dynamic digital-first platform by executing the digital content strategy, audience engagement, and brand distinction. The Senior Digital Editor is a strategic thinker who can connect broader business and societal trends to the business events industry while enhancing the digital experience through innovative content delivery.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Digital Content Leadership:
- Oversee and optimize the end-to-end digital content lifecycle, ensuring seamless integration of multimedia content (articles, images, video, and audio) to deliver a compelling, user-focused experience.
- Curate and deliver high-impact newsletters twice weekly, blending digital-first and exclusive online content to maximize audience reach and engagement.
- Implement and refine search engine optimization (SEO) strategies to increase content visibility and drive audience growth.
- Manage and maintain editorial workflows using Trello to ensure content is effectively distributed across all digital channels.
Editorial Strategy & Innovation:
- Collaborate with the editorial team to develop innovative content that reflect current and future business event trends, aligning with Convene’s voice and strategic objectives.
- Define and execute a differentiated digital content strategy for digital and print content.
- Balance practical, how-to content with in-depth, thought-leadership journalism to address diverse audience needs.
- Identify emerging topics and industry challenges to position Convene as a forward-thinking, authoritative voice in the business events industry.
- Ensure content reflects a global perspective by featuring diverse industry sectors (association, corporate, independent) and international insights.
Brand & Audience Engagement:
- Maintain and enhance Convene’s unique voice—friendly, accessible, and progressive—across all digital touchpoints.
- Leverage audience insights to shape content that resonates with the business events community, bridging the connection between global trends and industry-specific issues.
- Represent Convene at industry events and on press trips, fostering relationships and gathering insights to inform future content.
- Liaise with PCMA partners and advertisers to deliver high-quality sponsored content that aligns with Convene’s editorial standards and audience expectations.
Operational Excellence & Innovation:
- Ensure the delivery of error-free, high-quality print and digital publications through rigorous quality control and collaboration with external design and production partners.
- Explore and implement generative AI tools to enhance efficiency while maintaining editorial integrity and original content creation.
- Act as a knowledgeable voice on the Convene podcast, providing informed commentary on critical industry topics.
Strategic Alignment:
- Understand and navigate the competitive landscape of trade and association media, positioning Convene as a leader in advancing PCMA’s mission to elevate the business events industry as a driver of economic and social transformation.
- Align content strategy with broader organizational goals, ensuring a balanced mix of PCMA-specific and industry-wide coverage to engage a comprehensive audience.

Qualifications
- B.A. in English or Journalism
- Knowledge of AP Style
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, InDesign, and other Adobe platforms, as well as WordPress and Pardot.
- Comfort using gen AI
- Ability to write with accuracy, attention to detail, and in an engaging style
- Ability to work independently without supervision
- Ability to initiate new processes and work with gen AI to streamline operations
- Ability to proof accurately and according to AP and Convene Style
- Must possess good organizational skills and show ability to address several issues simultaneously.
- Ability to represent PCMA in a professional manner while interfacing with internal and external clients.

- Ability to perform work utilizing a computer for extended periods of time.
