Job Description:
The Koret Building Supervisor position is critical to the day to day operations of the Koret Rec Center. The building supervisor is a proactive, highly visible staff person who anticipates and prevents problems before they occur. The highest priorities include: safety of all patrons in the facility, ensuring on-duty staff meet job expectations and execute job responsibilities, and act as the liaison between professional staff and all Koret patrons.
Individuals applying for the building supervisor position within the Recreational Sports Department must have and be able to demonstrate the following: knowledge of customer service, proper phone etiquette, ability to multitask, acquire knowledge of membership information, building operations and procedures. This position requires individuals who can assimilate a vast amount of information in a short period of time. This is a high-energy position that requires an individual who can think on their feet, deal with conflict in a productive manner, and disseminate correct and accurate information at all times.
Employment as a building supervisor is crucial to the day-to-day operations of the Koret Center. You are the eyes and ears of the professional staff. It is your responsibility to be a liaison between patrons, professional staff, part-time, and student staff. In this position, you must have a highly proficient understanding of the front desk, cardiovascular alleys, weight rooms, equipment desk, and the pool deck. Anyone working in this role must be able to demonstrate their reliability and dependability in past positions or experiences.
Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Koret’s expectations of customer service
- Answering building, membership, and program-related questions
- Thorough knowledge of the Koret Rec Facility, including opening and closing procedures
- Thorough knowledge of all building policies, rules, and procedures
- Extensive knowledge of emergency procedures throughout Koret Center; able and willing to lead emergency response when necessary
- Problem-solving of membership discrepancies and access issues
- Being able to operate the credit card terminals and accountability of cash outs at end of day
- Using Google products and Microsoft Office products
- Knowledge of policies regarding parking, lockers, and towel service
- Selling recreation passes and memberships where applicable
- Making consistent rounds in the building (at least three times an hour). General patrolling of the building is a priority at all times
- Setting up and taking down special events
- Assisting with set-up and supervision of intramural activities and special events (such as tournaments)
- Supervision of part-time employees in all areas; lifeguards, personal trainers, group exercise instructors
- Lost and found collection and distribution
- Helping professional staff as needed
- Knowledge of Koret's communication tools (work phones, walkie-talkies, etc.), building alarms, and security procedures
- Must have experience with WhentoWork, EMS, and Activenet Software
- CPR and AED certified
- Knowledgeable of appropriate staff behavior and de-escalation and documentation techniques
- Thorough knowledge of incident escalation policy and procedures
- Other duties as assigned by their Supervisor/Professional Staff
