POSITION TERM: 11 Month
REPORTS TO: Grade Band Principal (This position will report to the Elementary School Principal)

Position Summary
Develops, manages, and implements the Agora comprehensive K-12 school counseling program, which is aligned with the ASCA national standards, Pennsylvania Career Education and Work standards and curriculum frameworks, and Pennsylvania’s Health Standards. This includes a comprehensive guidance program, responsive services, individual student planning and system supports.
Essential Functions:

- Assists students in grades K-12 in academic, career-planning, and social-emotional development areas
- Develops and executes a developmentally-appropriate school counseling program and curriculum focused on the mindsets and behaviors all students need for postsecondary readiness and success,
- Create classroom, group, and closing-the-gap action plans, activities, and interventions to address the areas of need determined in the ASCA national model and Agora’s needs assessments
- Serves as active participant and advisor for child-centered teams, including but not limited to 504 meetings, individual education plan meetings, school attendance plan meetings, SAP team, and MTSS child study teams
- Provides support for new students, including academic advising, identification and removal of barriers to success, facilitation of peer connections
- Provides advisement and appraisal for academic planning and goal setting
- Plans and provides direct instruction to students in the areas of social-emotional development, career planning, and academic success strategies
- Provides individual and small group counseling to students, including peer mediation and bullying
- Coordinates student work-based learning programs in which students meet specific academic and work experience requirements
- Assists and/or leads professional development and trainings related to areas related to their certification areas
- Leads dropout prevention and early warning systems efforts and monitors students at risk for retention
- Assists with long-term absence planning for students who are in mental health treatment facilities, maternity or medical leave
- Acts as a systems change agent to improve equity and access, achievement and opportunities for all students, including serving as an active participant on schoolwide and school-specific committees and task forces
- Collaborates with families, teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders for student success
- Analyzes data to identify student issues, needs, and challenges
- Reports results of action plans to the school community

Required Education and Experience:
- Current Pennsylvania Elementary and Secondary School Counselor (PK-12) certification
- Demonstrated successful experience in working in a demanding, high performance work environment managing competing priorities
- Experience using Microsoft Office suite and student information system and/or other type of database preferred
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Experience with distance/remote learning
- Experience/familiarity with content or learning management systems
Work Environment
This job operates in a virtual office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones and photocopiers.
