The Junior Litigation Counsel will assist with handling disputes and legal claims across North America. Candidates need a JD or LL.B, and admission to a State Bar.
Requirements:

Hard Skills: Knowledge in real estate agreements and transactions, Knowledge in labor and employment, Knowledge in tort law, Ability to multi-task and handle a variety of priority projects simultaneously, Strong organizational and time management skills, Project management skills
Credentials: JD or LL.B from an accredited law school, Member of at least one State Bar in good standing
Experience: 1-4 years litigation experience; in-house experience is a plus; preferred but not required.
Job Description:
Working remotely or at one of our offices located across the country, you will report directly to the Senior Corporate Counsel, Litigation (based in New York) and will work closely with other members of the legal and risk management teams throughout North America.

Assist with handling disputes and legal claims across North America, including the provision of preliminary advice, drafting of initial correspondence, coordination of local litigation counsel and oversight of any proceedings as they progress. Responsibilities will include sole carriage of a variety of matters including fee disputes, tort claims and employment/labour matters.

Manage external counsel to ensure budget and service expectations are maintained.

Work closely with internal insurance team members and insurance carriers on any claims for which coverage may be available.

Liaise with appropriate internal personnel to obtain all relevant information relating to ongoing matters.

Maintain an internal tracking database of ongoing claims, including status of proceedings and budget tracking.

Remain current on key relevant areas of law that may impact litigation risk and work with appropriate internal resources to identify any risk mitigation opportunities.

Oversee special research projects from time to time upon request.
