Description
About Us – Scaling the Future of Fractional Ownership
Experiential Squared (E2) is pioneering fractional ownership in sports and beyond. Our flagship platform, MyRacehorse (MRH), is the largest fractional thoroughbred ownership platform in the world, with 100,000+ passionate owners and over 200 race wins, including the Kentucky Derby, Preakness, and Breeders’ Cup Classic.
Now, we are scaling both beyond horse racing and elevating MRH itself—enhancing community tools, integrating deeper data insights, improving UX/UI, launching a secondary market, and exploring Web3 expansion. We are also preparing the platform for broader geographic and asset class expansion.
We are seeking a Fractional CTO for a six-month engagement focused on four core projects and assisting leadership in hiring a full-time CTO.
The Role – Focused Execution & Transition Support
We need a high-impact, hands-on Fractional CTO who will split time 50/50 between leading and executing key technical initiatives. You will roll up your sleeves to help build alongside our existing engineers while also guiding workflow, strategy, and hiring efforts. This role will also help us future-proof the platform for scalability, evolving our core architecture to support expansion across new geographies and asset classes. This includes early steps toward modularization, configurable workflows, and partner-facing capabilities that position us to eventually deliver fractional ownership infrastructure as a platform.
Requirements
Deliver on Four Core Engineering & Product Initiatives
- Collaborate with and support engineers on the transition from AngularJS to Next.js (React) for web and Capacitor for mobile
- Refactor and optimize legacy code for performance, scalability, and maintainability
- Ensure seamless Magento (PHP) backend integrations and API optimizations (REST/GraphQL hybrid)
- Build out security protocols to qualify for cyber insurance
Optimize Tech Workflow, Security, and Platform Architecture
- Establish best practices between Product, Engineering, and Magento development teams
- Oversee optimization of the 200-hour Magento engineering retainer
- Ensure smooth migration of cap table data to blockchain
- Begin modularizing the platform to support future multi-tenant use, localization, and flexible deployment
Assist Leadership in Hiring a Full-Time CTO
- Assess current engineering talent, workflows, and gaps
- Partner with leadership to vet and interview full-time CTO candidates
- Provide an objective, experienced viewpoint to ensure the right long-term hire
This is a focused execution role, not a stepping stone to the full-time CTO position. We are looking for a highly skilled leader who is equally comfortable coding, optimizing workflows, and supporting strategic hiring.
Who You Are
- Experienced in Scaling Startups – You’ve been a CTO, VP of Engineering, or Principal Architect at a high-growth startup or platform company
- Hands-On Engineer & Leader – You are equally comfortable writing and reviewing code as you are setting direction and mentoring engineers
- SaaS Architecture Fluency – You’ve built or led development of scalable, modular platforms designed to support expansion across clients or markets
- Deep Technical Expertise – Strong in modern web frameworks (Next.js), mobile (Capacitor or React Native), PHP/Magento, and REST/GraphQL APIs
- Security & Infrastructure-Minded – You understand DevOps, AWS, data protection best practices, and how to prepare for compliance reviews and cyber insurance
- Data-Informed – You’re excited by the opportunity to unlock MRH’s high-value customer, investor, and engagement data through better tooling and visibility
- AI-Savvy – You’re automation-minded and comfortable leveraging AI tools for development, analytics, or workflow acceleration
- Objective & Transition-Driven – You’re here to execute and help us land the right long-term CTO, not position yourself for that job
