Job Description:
The Agricultural Education and FFA Specialist is responsible for supporting the establishment and onboarding of sustainable new agricultural education programs and FFA chapters with a focus on programs emerging with nontraditional teachers and in nontraditional communities. This work will include a strong emphasis on support services to school administrators, teachers and supporters in the greater NYC Metro Area and other New York State urban centers. The specialist will work closely with urban programs remotely and through on-site school visits to identify opportunities for growth and to reduce participation and engagement barriers.
The specialist is part of the New York FFA State Staff team and will be responsible for chapter support, statewide initiatives, and programming support. They will provide initial and ongoing support to new teachers and develop resources for new chapters in communities of all backgrounds. This position will spend significant time providing support for state and district level programs and events including coordinating logistics (hotels, transportation, meals, etc), supporting registration and billing, and other program support as assigned. This Agricultural Education/FFA Specialist will serve individuals and communities with diverse races, ethnicities, socioeconomic backgrounds, genders, sexual orientations, abilities and more to promote and adapt agricultural education, FFA, and supervised agricultural experiences to be relevant and inclusive for all audiences.
This position is a full-time, remote position with moderate travel required throughout New York State and specifically within NYC and other major urban areas. This is a one-year appointment with possible extension depending on funding and performance.
