Schaumburg Christian School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Extended Care Worker to join our team. As an Extended Care Worker, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and nurturing environment for our elementary students outside of regular school hours. This part-time position involves supervising children during the extended care hours from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, as well as on some non-school days when extended care services are offered.
Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students during extended care hours.
- Engage students in age-appropriate activities, games, and crafts to promote social interaction and creativity.
- Assist with homework and academic activities as needed.
- Implement established routines for snacks, playtime, and quiet time.
- Communicate effectively with parents and school staff regarding student behavior and updates.
- Enforce school policies and procedures to maintain a positive and respectful environment.
- Collaborate with other extended care team members to create a cohesive and enjoyable experience for all students.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; early childhood education or related field preferred.
- Prior experience working with elementary-aged children in a childcare or educational setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, parents, and staff.
- Ability to handle various situations with patience, empathy, and problem-solving skills.
- First Aid and CPR certification preferred (not necessary)
- Flexibility to work on some non-school days when extended care services are offered.
