Burial Beer Co. is seeking a proactive and emotionally intelligent Security Guard to support safety and access control across our South Slope retail properties, including Eulogy Music Venue, VISUALS Rooftop Bar, and Burial Beer Co. Taproom.

The Job
The Security Guard role plays a vital part in maintaining a safe, welcoming environment for guests, staff, and artists by managing venue access, enforcing conduct policies and NC ALE regulations, and serving as the primary on-site liaison for contracted security personnel.
The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, skilled in conflict de-escalation, and capable of making sound decisions independently. They will collaborate closely with internal teams and artist crews to ensure smooth event operations and provide support during larger-scale events at our Forestry Camp location. This is a part-time position that requires availability on nights, weekends, and holidays, as well as a strong commitment to upholding Burial’s values, standards for hospitality, safety, and community.
What You’ll Do
- Manage access between Eulogy Music Venue and the VISUALS Rooftop Bar during ticketed events.
- Abide by and enforce the Burial Code Of Conduct and all NC ALE Regulations at Burial's South Slope retail sites.
- Serve as the on-site liaison for contracted Security working within Eulogy Music Venue, VISUALS Rooftop Bar, and the Burial Beer Co. South Slope Taproom.
- Respond to conflicts occurring amongst guests or between guests and staff on Burial property.
- Promptly inform South Slope security concerns to the applicable retail manager.
- Collaborate with artist teams, hosted at Eulogy Music Venue, to ensure a safe and smooth experience.
- Assist with large scale and/or festival events at Burial's Forestry Camp location, as needed.
- Fill out incident reports, as needed.
- Perform auxiliary tasks as assigned by the Eulogy Venue Manager, Visuals Bar Coordinator, South Slope General Manager, and/or the Burial Programming Manager.

- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Willing and available to work late nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of individuals.
- Skilled in de-escalation techniques with a proven track record of resolving conflicts calmly and professionally.
- Capable of making confident, sound decisions independently in high-pressure or emergency situations.
- Emotionally intelligent, observant, and maintains impartiality when assessing situations.
- Additional education, training, certifications, or relevant experience may be required depending on the role.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Must be able to navigate stairs, inclines, and uneven surfaces
- Capable of lifting or moving up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to respond quickly to incidents, which may require running, bending, kneeling, or physical intervention
- Must have adequate visual and auditory acuity to monitor crowds, identify risks, and communicate effectively in loud environments
- Comfortable working in varying weather conditions and in both indoor and outdoor settings
