Job Description:
Duties
Provide engineering services and management solutions for utility scale engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) high voltage (HV) underground transmission line projects. Perform complex research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection. Support the Project Manager in execution of project scope, schedule, and budget. Support the Project Manager in proposal development. Provide mentorship and guidance to peers and entry-level engineers with moderately complex projects. Review lower-level engineering work or assignments. Oversee development of plan and profile drawings, duct bank cross sections, manhole drawings, riser structure drawings, trenchless drawings as applicable. Oversee development of complex engineering calculations/studies including cable ampacity calculations, cable pulling calculations, and impedance calculations. Develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection. Review shop drawings, vendor quotes and perform bid evaluations. Plan and conduct quality checks on all project deliverables. Manage and adhere to budget, schedule, and quality requirements. Actively manages project changes directly with the Client and in coordination with the Project Manager. Lead medium to large design teams consisting of engineers, designers, and technicians. Assist with identification of key client interests and drivers. Supervise Project Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Civil/Structural Engineers, and Technicians. No hire / fire authority. Requirements
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related and 8 years of related experience. Must have experience with utility engineering and construction standards and processes. Must have experience with utility procurement and contract administration practices. Must have experience working as an electrical engineer within the standards established in the NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI codes and standards. Related experience must include managing project budgets, schedules, and technical outputs of a multi-discipline engineering team on projects of medium to high complexity. Must have experience working on engineering, procurement, and construction projects. Must have experience interfacing directly with the client on technical aspects of the project, including change management related to the project scope and commercial management. Requires experience identifying key client drivers on projects and communicating to the project team, as well as developing approaches to accommodate these concerns in the work. Must have experience preparing a variety of complex engineering deliverables for multiple projects, including performing research and developing recommendations for equipment and material selection, focusing on quality and following quality requirements and guidelines. Must have experience overseeing the collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work and reviewing lower level engineering work, providing guidance and mentorship. Position allows for full remote work. Domestic travel required (10%). Must have good written and verbal communications skills in English.
