Job Description:

The Director of Deployment is integral to ensuring a high-quality user experience for both Sysco’s customers and internal teams. This role leads the Deployment team and is responsible for the adoption of Sysco’s digital tools through advanced educational programs, strategically managing go-to-market activities for new features, technology initiatives, and facilitating seamless technology integration.

As a senior-level liaison between the product team and end users, this role plays a critical part in shaping product strategy, ensuring that features and updates are effectively communicated, understood, and utilized across the organization. Additionally, the Director of Deployment supports Sysco’s various market segments, national sales, and international migration efforts, while overseeing the decommissioning of legacy applications. This role also involves strategic input into product roadmaps, guiding business decisions based on user feedback and market trends.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Strategic Product Enablement Leadership
    • Objective: Lead the overall strategy for product enablement programs, aligning them with Sysco’s long-term business objectives and digital transformation goals.
    • Activities: Lead and ensure that enablement programs support current initiatives while anticipating future needs based on market trends, user feedback, and product roadmaps. Work closely with senior leadership to define strategic goals for enablement and ensure the execution of initiatives that align with Sysco’s growth and digital transformation strategy.
  • Product & Process Oversight 
    • Objective: Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of new product initiatives, pilots, and updates.
    • Activities: Identify dependencies and risks, manage resource allocation, and ensure efficient collaboration across departments to keep product initiatives on track. Drive the alignment of cross-functional teams to ensure product rollouts are implemented smoothly and according to business priorities. Ensure the proper documentation and tracking of key milestones.
  • Stakeholder & Relationship Management 
    • Objective: Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders, including product, sales, marketing, and international teams.
    • Activities: Establish executive-level alignment on product enablement goals, leveraging these relationships to influence product roadmaps and strategic business decisions. Engage with senior leadership to ensure that the enablement strategy aligns with the overall corporate objectives and foster strong internal and external partnerships.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration & Communication 
    • Objective: Serve as the senior liaison between product development teams and end users.
    • Activities: Ensure that product updates and features are communicated clearly and efficiently across all teams, especially sales. Provide executive-level reporting on the progress of key initiatives, tracking product enablement metrics, and keeping leadership informed on the adoption and impact of product enablement programs. Facilitate communication between cross-functional teams to ensure a unified approach to product rollouts.
  • Educational Strategy & Program Development
    • Objective: Design and implement training programs to enhance proficiency and adoption of Sysco’s digital tools.
    • Activities: Develop high-level educational content, including strategic playbooks and FAQs, while tailoring training sessions to meet the specific needs of different market segments, business units, and international operations. Lead the creation of scalable training programs that reflect the evolving needs of Sysco’s digital strategy, ensuring the programs are updated based on product enhancements and user feedback.
  • Data-driven Product Feedback & Improvement
    • Objective: Lead efforts to gather detailed user feedback, analyze data from training programs, and ensure continuous improvement of Sysco’s products and enablement initiatives.
    • Activities: Use data analytics to provide insights to product teams and senior leadership, influencing future product features and roadmap decisions. Monitor feedback from enablement sessions and refine and enhance training materials based on measurable outcomes. Ensure feedback loops are established so product and engineering teams can act on user data to optimize the product experience.
  • Implementation of Technology Initiatives
    • Objective: Oversee the execution of new technology initiatives, including product rollouts and the decommissioning of legacy systems.
    • Activities: Ensure seamless integration of new products and tools into Sysco’s operations by leading cross-functional efforts during rollouts. Coordinate all phases of implementation to ensure minimal disruption to business operations, with a focus on scalability and long-term sustainability. Provide strategic leadership during Go-Live phases and ensure post-launch activities, such as training and support, are fully aligned with business goals.
  • Post-Launch Support & Escalation Management
    • Objective: Ensure continued success of Sysco’s products through ongoing post-launch support.
    • Activities: Provide executive leadership on post-launch support, including organizing workshops, webinars, and troubleshooting sessions. Act as the escalation point for complex issues, ensuring swift resolution and tracking feedback to refine future enablement programs. Monitor the post-launch performance of products to ensure they meet key performance metrics and are being effectively adopted by users.

Qualifications

Education Required: Post-secondary degree or equivalent senior-level experience.

Education Preferred: Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Experience Required: 7+ years of previous sales or customer support experience; 1-2 Years of leadership experience in sales or customer support teams.

Experience Preferred: 3-5 Experience managing an account list directly from a CRM (Salesforce preferred); Experience with developing channel partners.

  • Data Gathering and Iterative Improvements: Collect and analyze feedback from users and teams, making improvements to training programs and materials to enhance effectiveness.

Decisions made with review/approval of other individuals/leadership:

  • Strategic Adjustments to Enablement Programs: Propose significant changes to the overall enablement strategy, including expansion of programs or alignment with new business priorities, with approval from leadership.
  • Product Roadmap Feedback: Provide insights and recommendations to influence the product roadmap based on user feedback, but any significant changes that require resource reallocation or impact company goals need leader sign-off.
  • High-impact Go-to-Market Strategy Adjustments: Propose changes to the go-to-market strategy for major product launches or new initiatives that require alignment across multiple departments, with leader approval.
  • Budget for Enablement Resources: Recommend additional resources, tools, or budget for enablement programs, including requests for new training platforms or external partnerships, subject to leader approval.
  • Execution of Medium-scale Technology Implementations: Oversee medium-scale technology rollouts or the decommissioning of less critical legacy systems, requiring approval for execution but maintaining autonomy in the management of the process.
