Job Description:
Swoop is a leading provider of AI-driven, precision healthcare omnichannel solutions dedicated to protecting consumer privacy and improving patient outcomes. By prioritizing privacy and compliance, Swoop delivers industry-leading audience segments, 100% MLR-approved conversational AI agents, and now a leading opted-in patient social network in the U.S. through its acquisition of MyHealthTeam. Swoop’s solutions drive meaningful patient and provider engagement, optimal conversion, and measurable increases in Rx lift across the patients’ health journey.
Role Summary:
This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role. The Director of Technical Accounting & SEC Reporting will lead all aspects of technical accounting and external reporting, serve as a trusted advisor on complex accounting matters, and drive IPO readiness. This is a unique opportunity for someone who can operate at a strategic level while also taking ownership as an individual contributor—drafting memos, preparing filings, and building foundational processes from the ground up.
What You'll Do:
- Own and lead the company’s technical accounting function—research, document, and operationalize accounting positions for complex and non-routine transactions (e.g., ASC 606, stock-based compensation, debt/equity, M&A).
- Prepare and review SEC filings, including 10-Qs, 10-Ks, 8-Ks, and the S-1, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP and SEC regulations.
- Partner cross-functionally with Legal, FP&A, HR, and other teams to drive IPO readiness and execute on financial reporting milestones.
- Be a hands-on operator—personally draft technical memos, reporting schedules, and key disclosures, especially in the near term.
- Own all financial reporting, including lender reporting
- Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing team over time while establishing scalable processes and controls.
- Interface directly with external auditors, with full ownership over technical accounting matters and financial statements and disclosures.
- Drive adoption and implementation of new accounting standards and internal policies as the company matures.
- Support SOX readiness, including documentation and implementation of internal controls over financial reporting.
- Oversee the research and implementation of new accounting standards and ensure proper documentation and communication of their impact to senior management and the Board of Directors.
- Provide technical accounting guidance and support to finance teams and other departments within the organization.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance across the organization.
- Monitor regulatory and industry developments, assessing their impact on the company and advising management on appropriate actions.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives as needed, providing technical accounting expertise and strategic insights.
What We're Looking For:
- CPA required, with strong foundational training—Big 4 public accounting experience on public companies highly preferred.
- 8+ years of total accounting experience with increasing responsibility, including SEC reporting experience at a public company.
- IPO experience is preferred —either taking a company public or supporting clients through the process.
- Expert knowledge of US GAAP (including ASC 606), SEC regulations, and financial reporting requirements.
- A "player-coach" mindset: you're comfortable leading strategy but also doing the work, especially in a lean, fast-moving environment.
- Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and communicate complex accounting issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence.
- Experience with tools like Workiva, NetSuite, FloQast, or similar is a plus.
