Director of Transportation

Job Description:

We are looking for a Director of Transportation to join our growing team.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement transportation strategies aligned with company objectives and customer service expectations.
• Lead initiatives to optimize routes, reduce costs, improve delivery timelines, and enhance sustainability.
• Manage daily transportation operations, including third-party logistics providers.
• Work with EHS to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and safety standards for transportation
• Source and train 3PL partners and their drivers.
• Foster a safety-focused, performance-driven culture.
• Develop and manage transportation budgets, forecasts, and cost-control initiatives.
• Negotiate contracts and rates with carriers, leasing companies, and service providers.
• Maintain strong communication with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to ensure delivery performance and satisfaction.
• Resolve transportation-related issues and implement preventive measures.
• Evaluate and lead the implement transportation management systems (TMS), GPS tracking, and automation tools.
• Identify and drive process improvements through data and analytics.
• Other duties as assigned.

Experience & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 8-10+ years of progressive experience in transportation, and logistics
• Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, freight logistics, and fleet operations, Canada and US
• Proven leadership experience managing large teams and multimodal transportation networks.
• Proficient with TMS platforms and data analytics tools.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
