Job Description:
The Dietary Clerk is responsible for accurately recording patient food selections in accordance with their diet order. The clerk demonstrates proficiency in managing room service phone orders, tracking food orders of patients who have not ordered by the designated time and notifying appropriate staff.
20 hours per week. Shifts will vary; 2 pm - 7 pm, 4 pm - 7 pm, 3:30 pm - 7 pm, 10:30 am - 7 pm; and every other weekend and holiday
Essential Job Functions:

Places orders over computer and telephone for guests and patient meal orders. Responsible for handling money from guest tray orders. Notifies Maintenance/Information Services when hardware or software problems arise.

Documents all phone diet orders of special requests. Handles all requests appropriately, takes action to fulfill requests, and informs appropriate staff or completes within required time frame and tubes items as appropriate.

Reviews diet orders received via computer and takes action to assure completion of order. Distributes orders requiring dietitian/technician action appropriately.

Sets up patients in AYR for tube feedings, snacks and nutrition supplements.

Gives dysphagia tallies to Production staff according to schedule.

Tracks food orders and performs call backs to patients who have not ordered by the designated time and notifies appropriate nursing and dietitian staff.

Demonstrates proficiency in knowledge of therapeutic hospital diets for completing room service and non-select meal orders for patients.

Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
