Job Description/Responsibilities
Bio: An experienced Data Architect with deep expertise in Microsoft Azure data services, along with strong working knowledge of Azure Synapse, Fabric, SQL Server, IBM DB2, and Cognos. This role is responsible for developing and governing enterprise-wide data architecture strategies to ensure consistency, quality, security, and accessibility of data across the organization. This team member will bring both technical depth and strategic vision to design scalable, modern, cloud-first data solutions aligned with business objectives. This position can be remote in Eastern or Central Time Zone.
- Use Performance Development System (PDS) to enhance performance within the company through evaluation, planning, and goal execution. Strive to constantly develop oneself as a valuable asset through personal and professional growth and attention to the position’s outcomes.
- Work closely with enterprise architects, data engineers, and governance teams to align data solutions with IT and business strategy. Provide leadership, and other functional areas, key measures against all performance based activities.
- Contribute to the overall company growth year over year by providing reliable data and support to all functions within the company.
- Provide data and systems that can be utilized by client groups to improve usability and thus team member’s efficiency of day to day activities. This will lead to improved business decisions and strategic planning.
- Define and enforce standards for data quality, data lineage, metadata management, and master data management (MDM). Lead architectural planning, data platform modernization, and migration of legacy systems (SQL Server, DB2) to Azure. Perform data architecture reviews and ensure alignment with security, privacy, compliance, and performance requirements.
- Develop and maintain canonical data models, conceptual/logical/physical data models, and metadata repositories. Design and own enterprise data architecture that supports both operational and analytical workloads across cloud and on-premise environments. Translate complex business needs into end-to-end data architecture that delivers high availability, data integrity, and scalability.
- Architect data integration pipelines and ELT/ETL frameworks using Azure Data Factory, Synapse Pipelines, and custom orchestration when needed. Participate in architecture governance forums and contribute to technology roadmaps and reference architecture blueprints.
- Ensure organization and proper time-management by following list of priorities and organizing tasks based on this list. Provide timely updates to team member or requestors. Provide weekly priority updates to manager, along with details of non-priority tasks completed.
- Serve as the SME on Azure Data Platform technologies: Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL (Database/MI), Azure Data Lake Gen2, Azure Data Factory, Azure Purview or Microsoft Fabric, and Azure Databricks for advanced analytics and large-scale processing. Provide architectural guidance for reporting and analytics solutions, including optimization of Cognos reports and semantic models.
