We are seeking an exceptional Staff Hardware UX Researcher to join our Product team. You will lead research across top hardware priorities including new vehicle form factors and parking infrastructure, among others.
You will be responsible for collaborating with Industrial Design teams to ensure new form factors and built infrastructure is easy to use for a diverse range of riders and abilities. Your work will focus on informing and improving designs across Lime’s complete hardware portfolio.
We are looking for leaders who have an arsenal of qualitative and quantitative UXR tools, and who are able to jump in to deliver core tactical studies, as well as identifying and delivering foundational UXR opportunities to drive our business forwards. We are looking for leaders who are interested in growing the capabilities of our Hardware UXR discipline over the long-term.
What You'll Do:

Engage cross-functional stakeholders to align on research needs and define projects with clear goals, hypotheses, recruiting characteristics, methods to be used, and expected impact.

Create understanding and empathy around user needs, stated and unstated, for your entire product team including designers, product managers, and engineers.

Leverage qualitative and quantitative methods to evaluate end-to-end hardware experiences, ensuring our product portfolio is designed to support a diverse range of riders and abilities.

Conduct usability testing to evaluate the ease of use, efficiency, and effectiveness of existing and net-new hardware products.

Analyze, synthesize, and interpret study findings into key insights to be delivered to cross-disciplinary stakeholders in clear, concise, and compelling ways.
About You:

Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Ergonomics, Psychology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

5+ years of experience in an applied research setting, or similar.

Experience with hardware product research, either in an end-to-end, usability, or generative setting.

Experience collaborating and working with Industrial Design teams.
Preferred Experience:

Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Human-Computer Interaction, Ergonomics, Psychology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

7+ years of experience in an applied research setting, or similar.

Expertise in consumer hardware product design and development. Preferred expertise in transportation and/or adjacent industries.

An ability to own and drive the strategy and execution of entire end-to-end research programs.

Track record of research work that has directly impacted product, team, or business direction or strategy.

Experience working in a very dynamic environment.

Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work fully independently.

Strong stakeholder management and peer (eg. PM, DS, ENG, UXD, ID) collaboration skills.

Comfortable teaching others.

Strong oral and written communication skills.
