About This Role
The Chief Credit Officer (CCO) will be responsible for the overall management of the bank’s credit risk, ensuring the safety and soundness of the loan portfolio while supporting the bank's growth and profitability objectives. The CCO leads the development and enforcement of credit policies, underwriting standards, and portfolio risk strategies across all lending areas. This executive provides strategic leadership, ensures regulatory compliance, and fosters a disciplined credit culture aligned with the bank's risk appetite and business objectives.
What You Will Work On
- Own credit policy development and oversight
- Supervise management of Portfolio, Credit and Credit Administration Teams
- Oversee the bank’s credit strategy, including risk identification and measurement
- Review and approve large or complex loans
- Head the Officers’ Loan Committee and make reports to Board’s Loan Committee or Board
- Serve as primary contact with regulators for loan-related exams
- Monitor the bank’s loan portfolio on a continuing basis to mitigate loss exposure through timely credit review and grading.
- Participate in the identification of problem loans and provide recommendations for handling and resolution.
- Prepare and review credit documentation in accordance with credit approvals and bank policies.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of credit files and loan agreements before disbursement.
- Monitor credit facilities to ensure terms and conditions are met, including collateral management, covenants, and periodic reviews.
- Track and maintain records of credit approvals, disbursements, and repayments.
- Prepare loan portfolio analysis including but not limited to impairment analysis pursuant to ASC 310 (formerly FAS 114), credit concentrations reports, appraisal aging schedules, and loan maturities loan reports.
- Coordinate with relationship managers, legal, operations, and compliance teams to facilitate timely loan processing and disbursements.
- Update and maintain the credit administration system and ensure data integrity.
- Support regulatory reporting and internal audit requests related to credit files.
- Identify and escalate documentation or compliance issues to relevant stakeholders.
- Assist in the implementation of process improvements in the credit administration function.
What You Will Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or related graduate degree preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in commercial banking, credit analysis, lending, and risk management.
- Proven experience leading credit functions at a senior level within a regulated financial institution.
- In-depth knowledge of lending practices, credit risk frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels.
- High integrity and sound judgment in balancing risk with growth opportunities.
What You Can Expect

- Pay Range: $125-150/hr (DOE)
