Summary/Objective
We are seeking a detail-oriented and tech-savvy Benefits and Leave Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for supporting the administration of employee benefits and leave programs, with a strong emphasis on employee communication, digital engagement, and maintaining internal benefits platforms such as SharePoint. The ideal candidate is a creative communicator, skilled in marketing-style messaging, who thrives in both people-centric and systems-driven environments.
Core Job Duties
Benefits & Leave Administration (40%)
- Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries related to benefits, FMLA, ADA, and other leave programs.
- Coordinate leave of absence processes and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Support benefits enrollment, life events, and open enrollment processes in partnership with vendors and payroll.
- Assist in audits and ensure data integrity in HRIS and benefits platforms.
Benefits Communications & Engagement (30%)
- Design and deliver engaging benefits-related content for employees, including emails, guides, infographics, and presentations.
- Create and maintain a calendar of benefits events, campaigns, and communications.
- Partner with HR leadership to build and reinforce a strong understanding of total rewards offerings.
- Track communication effectiveness through feedback, surveys, and engagement metrics.
SharePoint & Content Management (20%)
- Serve as the HR SharePoint administrator, regularly updating and improving benefits-related content.
- Ensure information is easy to navigate, user-friendly, visually appealing, and kept up to date.
- Identify opportunities to enhance content delivery through technology.
Marketing & Technology Integration (10%)
- Leverage digital tools and platforms to enhance Benefits Team communications (e.g., Canva, Microsoft 365, email marketing tools).
- Collaborate with IT or internal marketing team on cross-functional initiatives.
- Stay current on trends and best practices in HR technology and digital communication.
Competencies
- Ability to explain complex benefits information in a clear, concise, and engaging way. Must be skilled at tailoring messages to various audiences (leadership, employees, vendors).
- Technical proficiency, including advanced knowledge of SharePoint for content creation and administration, and experience working with tools like Canva and Adobe Creative Suite.
- High level of precision when managing benefits data and leave records.
- Ability to think creatively when designing materials, improving employee engagement, or simplifying complex processes.
- Handles confidential information with integrity.
Requirements
Qualifications and Required Experience
- 3–5 years of experience in employee benefits, HR communications, or leave administration.
- Strong communication and writing skills with an eye for design and messaging.
- Proficiency with SharePoint (required), Microsoft Office Suite, and design tools such as Canva, Adobe, or similar.
- Experience with HRIS platforms (e.g., Paylocity, or similar).
- Knowledge of FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, and other benefits-related regulations.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
