Job Description:
Artnet Auctions, the leading platform to buy and sell art online, is currently seeking a talented intern to join our team. We connect millions of collectors globally to a carefully curated selection of modern and contemporary artworks by leading artists and are constantly building new and innovative ways for people to find and collect art online.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented person who wants to learn from a fast-paced, international environment and is passionate about art. You will be supporting the team in ensuring the success of our auctions platform by researching, cataloguing, and assessing artworks for sale. You will also be providing support to the Business Administration in their business development initiatives, pre-sale strategy, and post-sale analysis. This is a part-time and fully remote position, and the candidate must be eligible to receive school credit and ideally located in the New York City metro area.
Responsibilities:
Cataloguing & Research
- Assist specialists and associates in cataloguing lots for auction
- Thoroughly research artists and artworks, and write detailed lot descriptions
- Assist specialists and associates in assessing artwork condition and value
- Photograph artworks and lightly retouch images in Photoshop
- Work with administrators on any pre- and post-sale client needs
Business Development
- Assist in conducting and compiling research on key clients and industries
- Manage upkeep of department databases and trackers
- Assist and facilitate staff on individual projects as necessary
